Absolutely no kids ever even if I wasn’t gay or had ability to adopt. I don’t remember my childhood positively at all, I think my parents should’ve never decided to have kids, and despite me trying hard to not be like them, I found myself making similar mistakes. I don’t understand people being so obsessed about having kids and saying stuff like “wait until you got ur own”, I’m like bitch it’s not happening ever unless it’s a nightmare I wake up all wet after with relief that it’s not real

Who cares about what you need. The cat spotted a bed with heating feature

Gaming laptops are clunky, ugly, not practical (yeah, technically portable, but not very convenient), loud, hot, drink a lot of juice and always need to be connected to a giant power brick. The worst kind of computer

azvasKvklenko ,

Windows 98, Windows XP, Ubuntu 6.06, some other distros on and off, Arch Linux is the last OS I would ever need for desktop PC btw

One would have to live under rock to not expect anything bad happening when living life this way openly in Russia. Not that it’s justified what authorities do, it isn’t

Everyone tells me similar experience with taking cat to a vet. For me, vet is actually the lightest part, but the transport and putting cat into a case is a nightmare, no matter where we go.

That’s the way. Nothing improves the experience on Linux as much as a bit of learning curve. You may go with easy few clicks setup distro and then once you stumble upon any issue you’re clueless. Besides, Arch is much easier to understand than something like Ubuntu.

Early Decapitated is my absolutely favorite (tech)death ever. I can easily find more technically impressive music, but it feels like good songwriting with is not very common in that genre.

If you want to learn Linux, Arch is the perfect balance between ease of use and DIY aspects. It now comes with an installer, but installing it manually will teach you the basics of how Linux systems are built and configured. It also comes with amazing documentation that makes it relatively easy to setup and once you do that, it doesn’t require much tinkering or changing stuff in order to use it.

Nix is pretty hardcore as for a new user. If you’re ready to learn entire functional language to manage it effectively then go for it, but I’d recommend something more traditional for first steps.

If you want to game casually, well in this day and age gaming on Linux is pretty good with most games running just fine. There’s problem with some popular online multiplayer games due to anti-cheat systems, but other than that mostly everything runs well with Proton or Wine.

Keep in mind that MacOS is also different than Linux despite also being UNIX-like. On Mac it’s all controlled by Apple, so things generally play nicely together due to tight integration and centralized development. On Linux many components are independent pieces of software that also quite often have replacements and you get different combinations of those depending on which distro you pick. Don’t worry, it’s also standardized to some extent, and while it’s not necessarily straightforward, once you feel comfortable (and you don’t face any issue with drivers/hw support), it’s really nice to use.

Interesting how long will it take for Microsoft to notice people are angry enough to try Linux to loose their dumb policies and their intrusive changes a little.

There are some good advancements on the free desktop in general, that’s not only around gaming. Fingers crossed it gets good enough for at least some people to stay when there’s an influx of angry Windows users.

Let’s he honest - Windows is not going anywhere anytime soon and it will keep dominating for years to come, no matter how intrusive and anti-consumer it becomes. That doesn’t mean we can’t have competitive system with significant user base (around 10% of desktop market would probably be just enough)

I moved my gaming system there couple of weeks ago. It really is a nicely packaged system.

It’s freaking tired of reminding everyone to practice, yet very few people do it regularly

You guys have headphone jack in your phones? I certainly miss headphone jack in a phone

600/100 in-home fiber, for 79zł/mo (~19€)
In practice it’s hitting something like 630/120

Note that you’re not getting 4K 120Hz on AMD on Linux atm. It requires HDMI 2.1 and amdgpu won’t get acceptance from HDMI forum anytime soon. For that you need DP 1.4 -> HDMI 2.1 converter.

azvasKvklenko ,

Good reasons no, it’s about hiding HDMI spec and protecting some shit DRM

The older Lunduke gets, the more he’s convinced about being right on everything, therefore the more rubbish he has to say.

To me it’s hard to say if BlueZ actually has some technical debt and is hard to fix, or is it just lacking some maintenance. Are bluetooth issues actually due to BlueZ, or is it more about finky drivers? My Bluetooth experience on Linux systems is mostly good, but it might vary a tiny bit depending on the hardware.

I’d say, if you see some architectural benefits then try and go for it. To really make sense it should do BlueZ’s job better than BlueZ. Being drop-in replacement is good for desktops integration, but maybe the API could be improved providing some benefits to how desktop integrations work (like provide more status info or prevent some situations from blocking), but again I know nothing about BlueZ internals so just guessing

azvasKvklenko ,

Eventually it’ll be easier to create a compatible drop-in replacement than maintain the decades old code, if it isn’t already

azvasKvklenko ,

How would a client (like running game) reconnect to a restarted PW server? That would require a game restart for its sound to work if I get it right

azvasKvklenko ,

I guess there’s that beginner period when that should be allowed. I kind of wished it happened to me again, instead of daily driving boring Arch systems with no incentive to ever change.

azvasKvklenko ,

Dont hold your breath. It’s just initial support. It’s still opt-in and I can’t see Valve using it with Proton by default unless they start supporting native Wayland clients in Gamescope
