Techwriter branching out to science writing and fiction.

The word "capitalism" doesn't mean anything in the real world so I don't call myself "anticapitalist". It was always just rich people, their minions, and their scams. It's not complicated.

Politically I champion individual rights, social good, voting, and regicide. I avoid acronyms and -isms.

I sincerely have no idea what he's saying here. Police have a kind of immunity. The Church insulates priests from consequences which is also functions as a kind of immunity. These things are widely recognized to be a problem. They are "justified" by the stature and supposed level of responsibility required to do these jobs. The justification is thin and our efforts to dissolve immunity are righteous.

So, why bring them up?

For people who never learned how to think, projection and assertion and whining on behalf of authority doesn't sound bad, it sounds like the kind of debate club they're already a member of.

If four Baptists have six opinions. And each Baptist will agree or disagree with 1-6 of the opinions, how many arguments will it take to have every possible argument?

Just one, but it will never end.

OK, Biden had a bad debate. He was run over by a Gish gallop. He should have been prepared for this, but he wasn't. "During a Gish gallop, a debater confronts an opponent with a rapid series of specious arguments, half-truths, misrepresentations, and outright lies in a short space of time, which makes it impossible for the opponent to refute all of them..."

There are good ways to counter, a Gish gallop.

Biden was fine, but Rump has money and connections to be a traitorous piece of shit. Anyone who supports Trump is going to hide when this is done. Traitors. Gonna getchta. Gonna findya. Gonna rip you out in public. And you will have nothing, ten years from now. You will run. Get right or get fucked up. Life hates you.

So, uh, basically we destroyed the whole world because the people who were telling us how to save it were SO ANNOYING. I guess it sucks that we’re all gonna die before our times and suffer— but, hey at least we showed those nosey know-it-alls!

They can’t tell us what to do!

And, that right there is what you call: FREEDOMS.

It's not the annoyingness for me, it's the sort of reverse rat race of blaming every ill in the world on essentially innocent behaviors, and that the only way to save the planet is to starve yourself of amenities, have no kids, have no car, and live according to a formula some boomer came up with in the eighties after they escaped a cult. It's a sort of repackaging of tech bro weird tricks. They don't seem to know how to work the actual problem.

Trump has threatened a 10% tariff on all imports.

Tariffs can be used strategically, but a blanket tariff is effectively just a sales tax on American consumers.

Trump's tariff tax would cost the average family an extra $1,500 year.

Trump is used to loss-lead a bunch of ideas in a new form of capture-and-kill of ideas he'll never enact and that the rich don't like. 10% is too much. 5% is better. 0% is worst of all.

Who is the most morally compromised of our justices? If you think it is a tie you may vote for more than one.

If you think one or more of them has vastly outstripped the others in failing to live up to their office, limit your vote to the greatest failures.

“We see you haven’t voted yet. Your voting record is public,” a recent mailer to Texas Republicans says. “Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical runoff election. We will notify President Trump if you don’t vote. You can’t afford to have that on your record.”

The thing about a "strong" "leader"? Eventually you'll be the one targeted when things get desperate enough. No matter how much you think you are the kind of person who wouldn't be.

The Republican Party is worse than ever. The only way out of this is to defeat Donald Trump in 2024 and make Republicans realize that there is no political future for them living in their alternative universe.

GOP pollster Patrick Ruffini pretends AI generated photos show black Trump supporters registering to vote.

(ETA: no wonder he needed AI, the fictions compound. Black republicans? Republicans registering black people to vote? Black Trump supporters? It's all made up like the star on that "American" flag.)
