Obviously, Trump and Biden's age is an issue in the election. But it's not even in the second rung of top issues. It's far below, for instance, the new Trump/Epstein revelations and the massive scandal of Trump making the guy who gave Epstein a sweetheart deal a cabinet secretary and letting Epstein mysteriously die on his watch.

We have to stop assuming that everyone has the same priorities, values, biases that each of us individually do.

Biden’s age (a proxy for his ability to govern for the next four years) is a big issue for a lot of voters and we ignore them, insult them, tell them not to believe what they see at our peril.

@otownKim @lolgop 🤷‍♂️ If it’s being ageist to want to maximize the chances that the DoJ will be able to continue its prosecutions against Trump and his cronies, that we’ll remain in NATO and that Project 2025 never sees the light of day than I’m an ageist.

There’s no logistical or legal reason why Biden can’t drop out and endorse another candidate. Money can transfer over and ballots would be updated in all 50 states.

@otownKim I’m pretty sure both really want another Trump term.

The best way to get that to happen is by living in an echo chamber that denies reality and assumes all the voters we need to win will magically dispense with their long standing concerns about Biden’s age and prioritize things they haven’t thus far.

Maybe the polls are all lies…and the media is in the tank for Trump but if that’s true, can someone give me one piece of evidence that we’re in a good place electorally?

@GottaLaff I’d put money on Biden bowing out at this point. The voters (even democratic voters) have been concerned about Biden for a year. The debate was catastrophic.

This isn’t a question of switching support to Trump (never) but it’s hard to convince people the fate of the Republic is on the line and then have the prime defender not be able to string together a coherent sentence. Voters will just think that’s politics talk and stay home. We need a new candidate.

@GottaLaff Lawrence was totally drinking the Kool-aid. The idea that “only” 30 million people saw the debate so no big deal is crazy talk. Those debate images are going to be all over social media from now to Election Day and for low information voters, they’ll be decisive.

There are all sorts of logistical and political hurdles to overcome. Maybe can’t be overcome. But I’d sure like to see the party exert itself 100% to save the Republic rather than “stay the course”

Confusing what we’d like reality to be vs what it is will get us Trump in 2025.

How are we going to win the few undecideds we have to get in November? And no, talking about Jan 6, his crimes, Roe, corruption, etc won’t be enough.

Every description I’ve read in the press has noted that Trump’s performance was full of lies and rambling statements. The fact remains that Biden didn’t just have a bad night…he had a disastrous night in which he reinforced every concern the voters have about him.

Anyone is better than Trump to me but Biden handed Trump a huge victory.
