GDP per capita is the only metric that matters. There's absoutely no problem with it whatsoever.

This is the best America has ever been.

My standards are getting lower every year.

I'll settle for regular rail and decriminalizing homelessness at this point.

I once saw a survey done in Seattle asking people whether they would prefer to eat feces raw or deep-fried. Based on the result of that survey, I have concluded that people in Seattle like deep-fried feces and are actively choosing to eat it.

Mr. Beast sucks but also apparently lives in a hell of his own making ( www.polygon.com )

If viewers don’t really see him having fun, that’s by design. Donaldson has outright said he sees “personality” as a limitation for growth, once noting in a podcast that hinging your content on who you are as a person means risking not being liked. And if someone doesn’t like a creator as a person, they may not give...

Byung Chul Han proven right once again. Achievement society of the west is a self-made hell.

Achievement-subjects cannot stop as it is their own volition driving them in a cycle of auto-exploitation.

Now think about how many "birds" you've seen that were walking or resting instead of flying. The system takes cost-effectiveness into consideration.

Thoughts on Feng Shui?

I know someone who is obsessed with it and astrology and spent half an hour trying to explain me and my siblings that it's legit while roasting our mess of a setup and home decorations(''having a painting of aggressive animals, horror decorations, figures, weapon replicas, pictures of our own late ancestors, too many stuff there...

painting of aggressive animals, horror decorations, figures, weapon replicas, pictures of our own late ancestors

Sounds very cozy. I wouldn't change it just based on Feng Shui.

Makes sense. It's communism when tanks don't run over people, so the inverse must be true as well.

What happened to all the Azov fighters that were deployed there? Retreated or captured?

I guess the institutional memory of going into Avdiivka to kill helpless civilians for years on end bit them in the ass when they faced real opposition. No sympathy for that paramilitary group specifically no matter what happens to them.

I knew that they got incorporated into the regular military to receive further weaponry, funding, and personnel, but I thought they maintained their distinct "identity."

It's hard to get news in English so I didn't know that they're basically just another brigade of the AFU at this point. Mariupol really was the end of them huh.

Are we talking about the same mediabiasfactcheck that rates Radio Free Asia as highly factual left-center source?

We'd have global communism by now if it didn't happen.

But it is not just that singular event. It is the general tension and wariness between socialist countries during the 20th century that was fatal.

We also saw something that really stood out, which is that the PRC believed the United States was in terminal decline — that our industrial base had been hollowed out, that our commitment to our allies and partners had been undercut, that the United States was struggling to manage a once-in-a-century pandemic, and that many in Beijing were openly proclaiming that “the East was rising and the West was falling.”

Sullivan can't get away with this. He can't just say a banger line like this and continue on without addressing it.

Those who still desire to move there for work have struggled to find jobs owing to the city’s slow economic recovery and changing language requirements. “Every job I applied for required Mandarin, especially in law,” says a woman who trained as a lawyer in Britain, but moved to the city to work as a financial analyst.

"International City" is just a euphemism for a city where you never have to interact with locals and learn their languages.

Trudge ,
@Trudge@lemmygrad.ml avatar

That is exactly why I used the plural form of the word language. You just have to add an "s" at the end of the word like this: languages.

Controversial among weebs and white racists maybe. I can't find any prominent Japanese publication or talking head decrying the decision.

The article tries to weasel its way out by saying "inside and outside of Japan" but it seems to be mostly people writing in English on Instagram who are riled up about it.

To be fair, books are rather ineffective at killing Palestinian children. We gave many chances to the New York Public Library, but they have failed to rectify this issue. Market efficiency says that Israel should receive those funds instead.

"We will make efforts to see outbound shipments of semiconductors, the country's No. 1 export, reach $120 billion this year," Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun said. "The new mega cluster's success will further spread to other parts of the nation and become the world's leading chip hub."

To whom can they sell? China was their biggest customer but now the USA is not letting South Korea sell to them. It's not like demand for raw chips magically spring up just because you make more of them.

The rate of parents who refused one or more recommended vaccines increased from 9.1% in 2006 to a staggering 16.7% in 2013 1

What happened between these two time periods?

-CIA faked a vaccination drive to collect DNA from children in Pakistan. (2011) 2

-Beta Israelis were secretly given birth control shots believing that they were flu shots in some cases (2013) 3

Stop screwing around with medicine. Blaming the people doesn't get at the root of the issue when their governments fomented mistrust in the first place. It takes decades to build up public trust and the antivax movement is a symptom of distrust in institutions, not the cause.
