Meta is basically an arms contractor at this point.

I've recently turned 20. What highly specific advice you, lemmy users, would offer me?

A lot of people answering this struggle to understand what highly-specific means. I'm looking to, for the sake of experiment, highly-specific advice that gives a reader clear understanding of what they should do. Unlike the vague advice, on the contrary, that may be too abstract to get implementing it right away....

Solid advice

If you grew up with trauma (or even if not) and have anxiety and stress get that shit under control now or it will lead to painful chronic illnesses after 30. Read about ACES and learn how to manage stress now.

Researchers design a processor from DNA — microfluidic chip completes math calculations and also stores data in DNA ( www.tomshardware.com )

A microfluidic DNA processor dubbed a "lab-on-chip" has been developed by RIT researchers, capable of not only computation but also reading and writing data stored within DNA. The prototype device supports artificial neural network computations on data stored within DNA, specifically microfluidic solutions of manipulated DNA...

Ok so are they using mitochondria to feed the process orrr what? This is essentially mRNA and tRNA in the making but these processes require energy, still.

"First, the researchers translated each composition into an information network by representing each note as a node and each transition between notes as an edge."

So... sheet music. They translated the music back into sheet music.

If they know there's a four day runway in a worst case scenario then someone should be scheduled to be in the lab at least for day four to check in the morning and evening. If the contents are that valuable then someone should be there. Just my operations experience backed opinion. Also curious if anything was documented so at least the data is preserved. So many ops questions for a prestigious facility.

I liked your post, op

"I like you as you are
Exactly and precisely
I think you turned out nicely
And I like you as you are

I like you as you are
Without a doubt or question
Or even a suggestion
Cause I like you as you are

I like your disposition
Your facial composition
And with your kind permission
I’ll shout it to a star

I like you as you are
I wouldn’t want to change you
Or even rearrange you
Not by far

I like you
I-L-I-K-E-Y-O-U
I like you, yes I do
I like you, Y-O-U
I like you, like you as you are"

Environment effects behavior. Behavior effects development. There. I saved your from click bait.

A new internet is forming (& Meta wants to control it) ( yewtu.be )

A federated internet is forming. It's built on open protocols like ActivityPub & connects services like Mastodon, Threads, Pixelfed, Tumblr, Wordpress and more into a connected network known as the fediverse. And everyone from tech enthusiasts to Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey seem to want in.

You think they're going to announce their intentions?

Can I sell you a home in Guatemala? It's the best deal you'll ever come across.

So, the real estate market in China was over leveraged just - like it's been over leveraged in many other countries. Will be interesting to see how their c̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶r̶t̶i̶s̶t̶s̶, I mean their economists attempt to correct for it. Chances are, if it's happening there it'll start a domino effect on other over leveraged real estate markets.

TacoButtPlug ,
@TacoButtPlug@sh.itjust.works avatar

Sounds like they're attempting to deflect from their trial.

Ugh. Well, if this is the case I wonder if there's a legit fund to help pay the "non bribery" Egyptians for them to cross.

Honestly, just as useful. Thanks for reversing my thought flow.

The fuck kind of sense does that make? Housing is an issue everywhere for generally the same fucking reason. Because the ultra wealthy are treating property like the Swiss bank accounts they lost a decade back. If you want to control your crashing affordable housing market then take it away from the wealthy foreign pockets. Not already broke ass students.

I always wished they would add a report feature to listings.

I feel like this was part of the Meta plan from the start. They know what they're doing.

And water is wet. I mean... were they expecting something else? Pretty sure those numbers aren't relegated to a single country, either.

I'm actually surprised it's not 100% to be honest. I'm gearing up for my masters right now, have worked in academia in the US, and can say from experience that the boys club is in full force in higher ed here. It's unfortunate but also unsurprising since it really hasn't been even 100 years that women have regularly been allowed to even be in academia. Kind of a bummer but it's to be expected when social progress is a slow thing.

TacoButtPlug ,
@TacoButtPlug@sh.itjust.works avatar

Oh yes. A ton. Women and people of color in the US.

I had something similar just happen and I'm pretty confused because I see in the lemmy.world modlog that my post was deleted but I posted here, on .ml... though when I look here I don't see it either but it's also not showing up on modlog...

[Discussion] A general approach toward companies embracing the Fediverse?

While Threads' integration with Mastodon has caused a big stir on both Mastodon and Lemmy, it is not the only for-profit company moving in that direction. Flipboard has announced it is embracing ActivityPub and gradually phasing in Mastodon integration. I have read elsewhere that Flipboard already works with Pixelfed, too. This...

At this point I don't want to be linked to multi-million dollar entities who base their business models off of spreading hate and disinformation with intent of influencing nationalism and elections. Aside from that glaring obvious issue, I honestly don't understand why the federation needs to entertain the notion of needing to grow in a corporate direction. Why? What's the point? We're all here to not do that.
