The only question is whether, along the way, we act in a more moral immoral or less moral immoral way.

SquirtleHermit ,

It's debatable if morality is even "inherent" to existence. I'd argue morality is a relative construct, but that's besides the point.

I was speaking in regards to the options presented. And as such, I know of no amount of genocide that could be called "moral". Thus my correction to your assertion, as the options presented only allow for "more or less genocide".

SquirtleHermit ,

"Middle Period"? That feels awfully optimistic to me.

SquirtleHermit ,

Because Trump's a piece of shit.

I'd go so far as to say anyone who supports genocide is a piece of shit.

SquirtleHermit ,

Everything is about US. That's why we are called US!

Cost cutting, the advent of digital distribution, as well as technological and game design improvements that allowed for such information to be conveyed in game, all contributed to game manuals becoming less and less valuable. Due to these factors, they kept getting smaller and smaller until one day the just stopped being commonly made.

Though my nostalgia still misses them (and strategy guides).

SquirtleHermit OP ,

On the contrary, it all matters. Try like hell, go down kicking and screaming, vote for Biden if only to prevent more holes from being drilled, push for class consciousness and solidarity, get organized, get involved, and bail water like crazy.

Just don't mistake where you are in this image, and don't mistake the Dems for allies, they are at best a useful tool.

SquirtleHermit OP ,

The real tragedy to me is neither one of us are. Weird time to say it, but I appreciate your consistency in making posts that push for a better future.

SquirtleHermit OP ,

Besides complaining on the Internet?

I spend my available volunteer time assisting a local homeless shelter, and I donate roughly 3% of my income on supporting groups that I believe do good. Much less than I'd like, but I believe every bit helps.

Also I complain on the Internet.

SquirtleHermit OP , (edited )

Your not wrong (well I kinda hope my donations help on those fronts or I'm throwing away money¯\(ツ)/¯ ), and focusing on the big political goals is extremely important. But I've got my own battles to face and I do what I can with the time I've got.

But I fully appreciate folks like you who are at the front lines of these issues! I checked out the mobilize.us site you recommend, and it seems like a good way for folks to get involved if they don't know where to start. If you don't mind, I'd like to add it as a recommendation to the text of the meme.

SquirtleHermit OP ,

If only my artistic skills went beyond adding text to stolen borrowed images.

SquirtleHermit OP , (edited )

Did you have further questions?

Or is it enough to say that I was just sharing what could very generously be called art to express my point of view and hoped that it resonated with folk and would prompt discussion that might be in it's own small way a part of the change I hope to see?

SquirtleHermit OP ,

Certainly don't want him to be Captain (or near sharp objects for that matter).

SquirtleHermit OP ,

Ignore the guy with the drill, he's just a Shark Week fan.

More importantly, have you heard about the shit going down in Palestine!?

SquirtleHermit OP ,

It's so obvious in hindsight!

I see no evidence that Biden has anything to gain from appeasing the left.

I would argue that failing to realize how large of a voting bloc the left is was a large part of what got us Trump in the first place. Moderates weren't enough to push Hillary through in 2016, and Dems made sure to send a strong "we don't need or care about you" message to the left.

If you want people to agree with you then you need to convince them that sharing your point of view benefits them.

I fully agree with this, but here is the thing. The Dems aren't arguing that their point of view benefits the Left. They are arguing Republicans will be worse. Which is true, but saying I have to pay you $20 so your asshole friend doesn't beat me up and take my wallet isn't a benefit to me. It's extortion.

I will be voting for Biden, being extorted is a less terrible option in the short run after all. But I won't be surprised if the Dems "We are less awful" strategy doesn't woo enough voters. And the Dems will have only themselves to blame. Because just like you said, if you want people to agree with you, you have to show them the benefit.

SquirtleHermit ,

Explaining comedy is like dissecting a frog.

You learn more about it, but it dies in the process...

SquirtleHermit ,

I mean, it's probably better they hear about it before it starts happening. Actually, it's definitely better we all hear it before it's starts happening. You know... So we can try to stop it.

SquirtleHermit ,

While I get the point of this post, and don't mean to trivialize anyone's struggles with mental health. I think that this mentality is detrementail to the vast amount of people who suffer from undiagnosed ADHD.

If you feel like you might have ADHD and are considering getting help, don't let posts like this push you away from getting an actual diagnosis.

SquirtleHermit ,

Yes, a handful of BestBuy employees accepted payments from the FBI to report on CP found on a customers device. So let's all feel good about underpaid workers losing their jobs in this economy.

SquirtleHermit ,

Low hanging fruit tastes just as good, and for a lot less work.

SquirtleHermit ,

Ah, but dont forget Ghandi's famous quote.

"If a man posts a meme, surely his whole world view is encapsulated in it. For truly I say to you, no human can have depth beyond a joke that they make."

But then again, maybe you and Ghandi are just making assumptions as shallow as the jokes you are mocking.

SquirtleHermit ,

Did you miss the point they were making or are you just being sardonic? Come on, think.

SquirtleHermit ,

Meta has a vested interest in making money. This has caused them to force polarizing content onto users pages, even when the information presented is false. They have worsened the political divides in America, and caused a significant number of people to believe lies about their fellow citizens.

The fact is Meta has damaged democracy for it's own profit.

Apple ( slrpnk.net )

I don't care if anyone has a Xiaomi, Oneplus, Samsung, etc. Each brand is using a modified version of Android, and they chose to be compatible with each other. But for example the "blue vs green bubble" drama is a thing specifically because of Apple locking their unsuspecting users into a closed ecosystem. And it sure isn't...

SquirtleHermit ,

More than you are implying. An Apple product means you have to buy from Apple. At least with android you can order a Fairphone. Which, while not perfect, is significantly better in the "slave labor" category.

SquirtleHermit ,

That's weird, I blame the people committing and/or supporting the Genocide. But I guess making a strawman out of Progressives behavior is another option.

SquirtleHermit ,

I voted for Biden, and I'll be doing so again. I voted for Hillary as well. Each time made me feel a little sick, like I had given my support to the atrocities that would now be committed with the "mandate of the voters".

It won't change the fact that I will vote for Biden (it is the best option after all). But comments like yours, that feel the need to throw accusations and bully people into selling that little piece of their soul, even when no one brought up withholding votes from Biden, make that sick feeling worse.

If there are people who are at the cusp of withholding their votes from Biden, your comment is not the kind of argument that will shame them into joining your side. Rather it will push them further towards abstaining. And while you might feel you have the moral high ground over people like that, you are still contributing to the problem.

Edit: To those considering their vote for Biden, I think this comment does a good job putting it into perspective. It talks about some of the good he has actually accomplished, and makes a decent case for how voting can't become a zero sum game or we will lose more than we gain.

SquirtleHermit ,

And now I do too! Thanks for the recommendation!

SquirtleHermit ,

I reckon I can put off the follow up until tomorrow.

SquirtleHermit ,
