Sasha ,

Yeah they're everywhere in my city still, they've even made them all free

Sasha ,

On second thought, maybe they aren't a payphone if they're free 🤔

Sasha ,

I knew something was up when a friend came out to me and I realised it was possible to be something other than your assigned gender.

5 years later, I'm reading an article about a non-binary person and bam, it all made sense.

Sasha , (edited )

I can absolutely sympathise, I've got a bunch of medical issues and only began my transition journey recently, well past puberty. It's the best thing I've ever done, the only goal I'd say you should ever have for your transition, is to be happy.

Also, it's useful to keep in mind that there are many ways of affirming your gender other than medical stuff, though I'll admit the medical transition has been the best for me.

I kinda have the opposite experience of gender, I feel equally comfortable as being boy and girl though generally prefer a mix at most times. It's so cool to me how differently we can experience these sorts of things

Sasha ,

Literally just had one of these 10 minutes ago

Sasha ,

Oh yeah, I didn't even realise until you said it but I absolutely do that all the time

Sasha ,

Tongue clicks are absurdly useful. In my family we use then to communicate over long distances and to find each other in big crowds

Sasha ,

Not all of us get downvotes, I see them pretty much daily...

Not interested in the whole yelling at each other thing, so genuinely asking here. What exactly does not voting democrat get the left in the US? Is the OP's assumption that you want to accelerate fascism actually correct?

So far I haven't seen any reason other than either accelerationism or "because it makes me feel bad" and I refuse to believe that's all that's behind it.

I'm really having a hard time, and I genuinely think it's important to try to understand the points of view and beliefs of those we disagree with, rather than immediately turning to infighting.

Sasha ,

I can't tell if you're mocking me, I don't know how much clearer I can be that I just want to know why, if I can't understand why people think it's a good idea then I can't be sure that my views/opinions are actually worth anything.

If you just don't want to talk to me then, that's okay too.

Sasha ,

I appreciate it. I'm not here to debate you and I have no reason to lie about not having seen anything else, though I'm honestly a bit hurt that you think that, but I guess you've been nothing but attacked so far so perhaps it's understandable.

Sasha ,

Disclaimer: I'm Australian so I only have a relatively small stake in this, and I'm pretty solidly in the do vote camp.

All that said, I find myself really empathizing with the frustrations I've seen expressed by those who won't vote. Again I don't agree with not voting, I just see there is humanity behind it. It makes me weep that you need to fight about this in the first place, we have preferential voting so it's not an issue at all here, you can vote independent and still prevent the right from taking office.

I hope you all make it through this safely and that you have no regrets in the end. Please look after each other, solidarity is our strength.

Sasha ,

"Are you sure you're not making it up"

The medical system is not kind, my diagnosis was all of 5 minutes and almost definitely wrong. That was after fighting with my GP to get a referral to the right specialist...

I reckon the worst part of a chronic illness is when you don't realise it's abnormal, I just assumed everyone else was just as tired and sore as me.

Sasha ,

Free trade and mutual cooperation between collectives, I thought this was considered the standard anarchic model?

Sasha ,

It's important for the left to recognise that boomers as a whole also represent a group of people who face significant systemic challenges, and that the real enemy is capitalism and the power structures that maintain it as the status quo.

Sasha ,

As they do now, capitalists are to blame for what previous generations have had, not the generation themselves. While the boomer generation may have profited by the direct disenfranchisement of others, the same is inherently true of almost anyone who participates in capitalism.

Hating boomers for being born when they were is prejudice plain and simple, while we may face our own modern issues they had their own when they were younger. More recently there's lovely stuff like elder abuse that's rampant in aged care.

The leftist cooks did a great video on the topic that I'd recommend watching rather than listening to me, I'm no expert on the topic, I just think social cohesion is important and we need to keep in mind who really causes our problems.

Sasha ,

HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE MOST AWFUL THING I'VE READ ABOUT CAN WE NOT PLEASE

Why can't we just fucking treat animals nicely instead of doing insane shit to them, I'm literally going to go and throw up now

Sasha ,

Power move

I'd totally do this on purpose

Gen Z boys and men more likely than baby boomers to believe feminism harmful, says poll ( www.theguardian.com )

Boys and men from generation Z are more likely than older baby boomers to believe that feminism has done more harm than good, according to research that shows a “real risk of fractious division among this coming generation”....

Sasha ,

I can't believe I actually had a full on moment of, "thankfully that's not me" before realising I'm not a boy or a man anyway.

This is sad and concerning though

Sasha ,

I'm not even remotely knowledgeable on the subject, are those the efficiencies immediately after manufacturing or after they've settled? The one thing I remember about solar panel efficiency is that it quickly degrades, though maybe I'm misremembering that too

Sasha ,

As someone who has absolutely no desire to ever own or drive a car, I'm getting my licence based purely on the off chance that I might need to anyway (but I'd probably just hire for a day).

Sasha ,

How many more years of these news stories do I have to read before we actually do something about this?

I'm so fucking sick of this happening constantly.

Sasha ,

Did you even read the summary? They're literally both being pursued

Sasha ,

Massively agree, it's made me get into food science and it's just so cool

Sasha ,

That was one of Louis Theroux's phenomenal docos.

He was super confused at the end when he was met with "but we want to hurt them" it was a bit funny how jarring it was, but also really sad.

YSK : Moral values of being nice, forgiving and generosity are justified by game theory to be successful strategies ( youtu.be )

Prisoner's dilemma is a problem commonly featured in game theory. Each player is given an option to be either nice or nasty. Each combination of player plays multiple number of rounds. When tested against different strategies, it is found that the best performing strategies are :...

Sasha ,

Take away the power to tit for your tats, and now you can be almost as nasty as you want.

The prisoner's dilemma is of course, a highly simplified model. If you could just submit a strategy like "my opponent doesn't get to play, so I take all the points" then yeah, that would beat tit for tat.

Sasha ,

Merry Christmas!

More Konsi is exactly what I needed
