@FediTips With all due respect...

Your main argument seems to be a fear that if offered a lot of money, that someone running a huge instance like mastodon.social will eagerly sell it if a large enough offer comes up.

My question to you is, what constitutes a "large instance"? Is there an exact number and if so, do you believe that all instances should be capped at that number and no longer allowed to accept new users?

Hi!

You are going to see a TON of pushback being here. That's not your fault though. You see, we've all become free of centralized services which make you a product rather then a user. So to some, allowing Meta to federate, is like drinking poison and not expecting it to kill you.

With that said, my hopes is that this will give you the opportunity to see how much better it is to be a USER and not the PRODUCT.

Can anyone point to a good resource on how to be a better parent to an autistic adult?

I really feel like I'm swimming in circles and I'm not always sure I'm being the advocate and support that she needs me to be.

The half-baked philosophical conundrum that keeps me up at night most often is simply: why is my consciousness limited to me in particular? Why am I not everyone? Or everything? or nobody? Or you? Or an ant? Or an ant colony? How did I find myself in this particular stream and what is the nature of the boarders that keep me within it?

This idea generally frustrates and freaks me out and I doubt there is a sensible answer, I doubt it's productive to think about, but I worry on it over and over.

So I talked to someone representing the developers of this morning about the mobile app they are working on in 2024.

They asked me a bunch of questions about usability and my expectations and a bunch of other questions.

The one thing that I kept trying to bring to their attention was that building an app that only let's you watch videos and download them was a waste of time if they didn't include something that content creators could find useful.
