A lot of people Starve to death under Capitalism every damn day while excess food is destroyed to secure more of a profit. Not having enough to go around is bad and happened alot before the advent of modern farming techniques, but creating that deficit artificially to secure a profit is damning of the viability of an economic system.

The USSR gave early retirement to those that worked undesirable jobs, pretty decent incentive. Having undesirable jobs doesn't make Communism collapse.

To be honest, choosing which piece to do the study on ha. But the hardest part of the actual painting is mixing the colors and getting them as close as possible. One of the reason I like doing Edgar Payne studies is because his brush work feels so intentional and elegant in its simplicity. Copying him is extremely satisfying when I get close to what he painted.

All of my paintings so far have been Alla Prima, with a base layer of Burnt Sienna and Permanent Crimson mixed with a paint thinner. I wipe most of that base layer off and then do a rough sketch of the painting with the same mixture before starting to paint actual colors I want to see. The guy I've done the most master studys of, Edgar Payne, did his paintings very similar with usually less layers than what I end up with. You can see the base layer he primed his canavas with on alot of his finished works.

I use a lavender brush cleaner as a paint thinner, it is non toxic and works great. I paint with winton oil colors by windsor and newton, and also paint in an unventilated apartment.

Its extremely challenging, but you learn alot from doing it. Its also important to choose only 1 or 2 artists and stick to them and try to learn their style. Ive landed on Edgar Payne and Monet after being a life long Van Gogh stan. Its really useful in developing your own style by blending 2 different masters together. I highly recommend checking out the Paint Coach on YouTube he has a bunch of great videos that really break down the process of composition and getting your values right. Either way Happy Painting! Cant wait to see more of your works!

If you dont like the medium please dont hesitate to try out oil painting, it is Sooooooo much more forgiving than watercolors. Either way good luck with your art journey!!

Half of the Paintings I've completed, all oil on canvas. ( lemmy.ml )

Finally got around to getting my art wall reorganized with some of my newer pantings, it now displays 15 out of the 30 total paintings I've done since i started painting last month. 6 of these are Master Copies, 3 are from tutorials, and 6 are from pictures I took or found online.

Its an architectural marvel imo, i still can't believe it exists.it took me a while to build up the courage to paint it. Definitely want to do another one here soon, really glad I dedicated one of my larger canvases to it.

Thanks! Its the piece I've spent the most time on, besides the one I'm currently working on, its tough getting all the subtle color transitions while keeping the values right.

Can confirm I have this with White Noise, especially when i combine it with another ambient sound, thought I was going crazy when I started sleeping with an air purifier in my room till i realized what was going on.
