Of course it's real.

Christianity is a religion of dudes.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, it's stupid, and nearly all of them have no awareness of the fact that the Confederate Flag was only truly adopted as a cultural symbol as a backlash against the Civil Rights Movement.

But it doesn't matter.

The last two generations of southerners have taught their kids that that awful flag is, in fact, a symbol of Southern heritage, so the bell can't be unrung. For many, it is now a fact.

Diogenes was, by all accounts, a gross-ass motherfucker.

...but I like his revolutionary spirit.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

LOL

America is most certainly not a democracy in any sense of the word.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The word is inconsequential.

We are an oligarchy masquerading as a democracy. You get two choices, both selected for you by the ultra wealthy and both beholden to them over all else.

Further, the presidency has never in this country been decided democratically, and that was by design. The poor and minorities were never intended to have any meaningful electoral power, and they don't.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The president is elected by the wealthy. The minority has nothing to do with it.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That's true in the literal sense, but the word 'minority' has a very different connotation in this country.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This is a great thing.

There need to be material consequences for Nazism.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This is the way.

I deleted a year ago and can count on one hand the number of times I've used reddit since.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

There is a disenshittified version of google out there, for now at least: udm14.com.

Every time I've used it, it's for info on a home improvement project. Being that my browser blocks ads, they get nothing from my interactions.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

At least here in the US an admitted fascist won the Republican primary, so anyone who is willing to label themselves a Republican should also be perfectly fine with being labeled a fascist.

FlashMobOfOne , (edited )
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That is maybe the one big plus of our federal government and both major parties being wholly owned by corporations: out of necessity, unions have returned to their take-no-shit ways and no longer assume any good faith on the part of management.

Plus, if you have no other reason to join, there's this babe.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You're welcome to disagree, but you can't pretend I'm not right.

It's been around a year since a lot of us quit Reddit, myself included. I'm happy with Lemmy, but I still feel a bit lost online since leaving the old site. Discussion?

Been thinking of making a post like this for some time, apologies if some of this is not completely relevant: this community seems more like it's about Reddit the platform/product than Reddit the social "thing", but I'm sure a lot of people have similar experiences to mine. Maybe on some instances more than others....

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I've used reddit like 3 times since.

I don't miss it one bit.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Christ, that's so horrific to consider, all around.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

There's no 'want' to it.

They already have. Idaho got away with criminalizing abortion, which means 2/3 of the states will do the same next session, just like how 2/3 of the states still allow for you to be paid $7 an hour.

In the absence of a true opposition party, the wolves are feasting.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That's the thing.

You used to be able to count on Democrats to fight for social issues, at least. The Dems we have now are only concerned with increasing their own wealth, and that was very well-evidenced by their response to the Roe vs Wade leaks. Do you recall their response? They used it to fundraise and did nothing else. ($80,000,000 was the cost of your rights to bodily autonomy, in case you're curious.)

And now 2/3 of the states will get away with criminalizing abortion within another year or two, tops.

I remember when, in his first SOTU, Joe Biden mocked the Defund The Police movement, and called for increased police funding, even though the police are overtly fascist in most of the country and we all had just watched them proudly execute a man in the streets.

Now he's sending more bombs to Israel.

If you're telling yourself the Dems are the answer, I think you're just asleep at the wheel here.

Dems Urge DOJ to Prosecute Big Oil Price Fixing That 'Harmed Virtually Every American' ( www.commondreams.org )

"These alleged offenses do not simply enrich corporations; hardworking Americans end up paying the price through higher costs for gas, fuel, and related consumer products," 23 senators wrote in a letter to the DOJ.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Man, if only these poor, powerless federal legislators had any real power to act.

Spare me, Schumer.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

When there is no legitimate opposition, it frees the wolves to do whatever they want. You've got to start voting for people who want more than to get wealthier off their government position.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, the "You're with us or you're with the terrorists" rhetoric has been pretty strong.

It seems both sides know that their brain-dead, geriatric candidates are pretty shit.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I think you are perhaps uninformed about the economic state of the poor and working class. Biden hasn't done a whole lot about people's grocery bills doubling and tripling, or the soaring increases in rent while the housing supply has remained artificially low, but he's made sure that blank checks for war appear out of thin air at every turn.

Can't expect to win an election like this when people can't afford to miss a day of work.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yup. All the so-called liberals are over here clamoring for another four years of Genocide Joe and just ignoring it, when we could have had Marianne Williamson instead.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

No, it isn't.

We want to replace Genocide Joe with the Greens.

Unfortunately most American voters lack a conscience, so it's not going to happen.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That'll happen when you give Democrats the presidency and a majority in Congress and all they do with it is issue blank checks for war instead of addressing the needs of the poor and working class.

It's a replay of 2016, when Hillary (and Obama before her) ignored the Rust Belt and it lost her the presidency.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

So what you're saying is that you're a-okay with fascism and genocide, provided it wears a blue jersey?

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I'm shouting into the void and I know it. Nothing I do or say will change anything.

I can look at the last 40 years and be astonished at how little American voters care about their own welfare, and rest assured that the election in November will likely be 49% to 49%, because for some reason they all are just exceptionally well-programmed to vote for the candidates that the wealthy want them to vote for. All of them are poorer now, both economically and socially, than they were even just ten years ago. They can see with their own two eyes that they get poorer no matter which party we elect, and it doesn't stop them from voting solely on team color anyway.

Hell, the Democrats had Marianne Williamson, an anti-war, pro-living wage, pro-universal health care candidate who can actually form a coherent thought in their primary. They decided overwhelmingly that they wanted the old, addled warmonger to be their president, even though he's done nothing meaningful to try and fix their poverty, opting to spend his time keeping his scumbag son out of prison and the war money flowing to other countries.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I see a whole lot of excuses flying form Democrats to try and distract from the fact that they're voting for Genocide Joe in November.

This thread is littered with them.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

As if you'd ever diverge from your partisan programming.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That's okay. Thanks and god bless.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

If your reflexive response is: "But they suck too!" you should realize it's not the fantastic defense you think it is.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You will never see me say 'Let's go Brandon'.

Genocide Joe is an appropriate nickname though. Joe's done everything he can to earn it.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Having a home studio's great. Get yourself one of those plastic storage cases with drawers, put the wheels on the bottom, cover it with stickers, and you're ready to go. Have a canvas to put down as well.

It's quite convenient.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, Donald Trump literally sold the Resolute Desk for ad space to Goya, and that hasn't stopped his reelection bid any more than his recorded participation in treason.

I'm not sure our so-called democracy is accomplishing much.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

TBH, whenever someone tries to tell me I should donate to political candidates, I tell them to take that money and invest it instead. The big winner in all this, going on 40 years, is the stock market.

You may not have representation in government, but your investments do, 100%.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

And sadly, it's likely he'll be reelected, in which case all of this surreal shit he's done will be validated.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This is definitely bad, but it's also 100% a both sides issue.

Why do you think it costs half a million dollars (at least) to get five minutes with the candidate at one of the national conventions?

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I love it.

Scramble it all. I'd do the same if I hadn't deleted mine a year ago.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That was the big takeaway I got from COVID.

No one's going to protect me from other people's carelessness but me.

Also if there every really is an apocalypse, I don't want to live through it. :D

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You may.

In fact, Genocide Joe is up for reelection, and if the Republican candidate wins, don't worry, the policies on Israel will be exactly the same.

You get genocide no matter who you pick.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

What can I say?

Stop voting for capitalists, man. You have to step off the Democratic and Republican train if you want meaningful change.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Fixing it means de-radicalising the republican party by making them lose elections and re-structure away from fascism.

You have 40 years of history to definitively prove to yourself that voting Democrats fixes nothing.

But sure.

Go for it. Maybe in another 40 years the country will be so terribly broken that none of them wwill want it anymore.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

And the person you want me to vote for has sat on his ass for the last four years watching the cost of groceries double and triple, gasoling costs pass the $3 mark permanently even in the poorest parts of the country, housing costs nearly doubled, and written blank checks for other countries' wars, even if said country was openly committing genocide.

Oh, and what did he do when Roe was repealed? He used it to fundraise. That's it.

Your candidate is a fascist, and does not care about your wage slavery.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It's not. It would only help if Greens somehow get enough to qualify for public election funding, which isn't going to happen.

The last 40 years have also taught us that, no matter how bad things get, 99% of voters will pull the lever for Democrats or Republicans.

I'm shouting into the void and I know it, but people deserve the criticism since they insist I'm throwing my vote away while theirs signifies knowing and active approval of fascism.

The only thing you can do to help yourself now is put every cent you have in the stock market, because the fascists will do their very best to make sure that survives, being that their wealth is wrapped up in it too.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

You just sat through a Democratic presidency, with congressional control, that impoverished you in every way, including the right to your own bodily autonomy.

Instead of making sure you eat, they wrote blank checks for other countries' wars.

It's honestly impressive how little you care about your own welfare. You're right. It's a moral imperative that I vote for your fascist and not the other guys' fascist.

FlashMobOfOne ,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

My parents, sadly, were very irresponsible with their money, but it's insane to me that we have 100+ billionaires in this country and we're just letting people die left and right whose lives can be saved.
