I never used them but I did have the zip-branded external CD-RW drive that came way later. I just looked it up and apparently it was notoriously crap but I never had an issue with it.

Keurig's new K-Rounds coffee pods are plastic-free and could finally make single-serve coffee-making sustainable ( www.techradar.com )

This is quite exciting in that it removes plastic waste. I see no reason why different companies can't make different shape ones to maintain their lock-in. I expect a knock-off market to pop-up, but that exists with plastic pods too. It's a step in the right direction at least.

He wasn’t kidding when he said it was the best laptop, and the remote was the best part. I was digging the whole thing until then but the functionality of it blew me away as much as it did him around the 24 minute mark. Was one of the best retro computer vids I’ve seen in some time, I loved everything about it

I only started getting recommended his videos pretty recently but it's a great channel. I've followed Techmoan, LGR, VWestlife, MJD for longer and am glad I started getting theirs. Good stuff.

They're not so bad if you drive one often enough. I had one for five-six years and drove it only in tiptronic, shifting while lifting off the gas. In automatic mode yeah it's dog.

This was the gas version that needed premium fuel. I drove it daily on the 401 for awhile. Was the first car I had that absolutely required winter tires, was undrivable in snow/ice without.

I thought it was a decent enough car, got it barely used very cheap due to it's wild depreciation which was a good thing, until it started needing serious work that made no sense to do. At the end it was worth as much as a new set of tires for it, as in nothing.

I had one of those too, was my first car. Got to 280,000km on it (had to hit the dashboard for the digital odo to appear), pretty much every feature was broken from the clock on the radio to the rear defroster and the A/C but it kept rolling. Until someone T-Boned me at like 30km/h coming out of a parking lot and absolutely OBLITERATED it. Such an unsafe vehicle

It's like how Netflix ended the basic no-ads plan to force people to either pay way more or pay a little less but be bombarded with ads. Serving ads is more profitable than letting people pay a little bit to skip them, apparently.

It's still their responsibility to audit their suppliers. At the very least to have them pledge to not use child labour with contract penalties. I have a friend who travels at random to China to do drop-in unannounced checks for apparel companies to make sure they're meeting labour standards and actually doing the work in-house and not sub-subcontracing.

It's super common for low bidders to have nice show factories that give a good tour, but then just pawn the work off elsewhere when companies don't actively check or care. I can't imagine Deere gave a shit to allow this from their supplier, especially with no statement from them even saying they were hoodwinked or anything.

Pay for 500/500 but am eligible to get as high as 1500/1500. Don't really see the need. Ping to Boston is almost always 7-14ms. Really lucky to be able to get fibre to the home after so many years of piss poor unreliable cable that would go down weekly

If you're paying for the wedding yourselves just invite whoever you want. No reason to feel guilty for leaving people out, especially if they're toxic like that.

If you're getting help financially from family, I would discuss it with them discretely to make sure there's no expectations, and make your feelings very known. And still don't invite if you really don't feel it's right. It's your day.
