so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one

    @vampiress This may be a slightly esoteric point, but I don’t think it’s the show’s optimism that didn’t click. Rather, I feel it was more a case of Trek fatigue. Here was a show that used the same templates used in every Trek show since TNG: same storytelling, same pacing, same cinematography, etc, but then they kept the old optimism and wrapped it wide-eyed wonder because they were the first crew to explore deep space. FWIW I still applaud the producers for trying very different theme music.
