Odd that it didn’t get blocked by these US banking institutions, or they got the transfer fees then flagged the transactions…

Bahalex ,

Looks a lot like our border collie too-dark with light legs and chest, floppy ears and especially the crazy eyes.

Apple supplier Foxconn rejects married women from India iPhone jobs ( www.reuters.com )

Foxconn, a major manufacturer of Apple devices, has been excluding female candidates from assembly jobs at its flagship Indian smartphone plant because they are married. Both companies’ codes of conduct state that workers shouldn't be discriminated against on the basis of marital status....

Bahalex ,

Wait… I thought Apple left China because of slave(ish) labor reasons. But are still using Foxconn which is a Chinese company?

Ah found this:
“Like many of its competitors, Apple has relied on China for assembling its products for years. But political and economic factors have forced the company, as well as the broader tech sector, to rethink that approach by seeking partners from across the region.”

You can take the production out of China, but not China out of production…all for ‘optics’.

Bahalex ,

Ah, my bad- so it is. To be honest all I’ve ever heard about the Foxconn iPhone factories in china is them using Chinese semi slave labor run by Chinese people.

I guess taiwan number one China is still a bit shady at times...

Bahalex ,

No, poor people already pay for the rich. The rich can afford an accountant to find as many loopholes and deductions as possible. The really rich don’t have an “income” and live of capital gains which is already under taxed.

This is just a hope people remember the “no income tax” part and forget about the “raise import tariffs” part when they’re at the ballot.

Bahalex ,

Right, this election, and the last, where more about who the president surrounds themselves with. Who they appoint to key positions. Not the individual.

Bahalex ,

Or the criminal rapist immigrant that takes your job…

What's the best US site/app to sell stuff?

Cleaning out my mom's house. I hate to trash things that may be useful to someone else and some of it's probably worth some $$. I've used Facebook marketplace a couple of times. I've heard of OfferUp and LetGo but haven't used them. Where will i get the best response and $? Should i just pile it all up and do an online estate...

Bahalex ,

Depending on where you are there are estate buying/selling services or companies.

I have no personal experience with this, but I’ve seen a few in the past. It may help ease the burden.

Bahalex ,

Hey, some places it the county Sharif that’s the coroner… which is also bad.

Sometimes people die in the county jail… and almost every time it’s not needed to perform an autopsy- it’s just natural causes..

The coroner needs to be an impartial medical professional.

Bahalex ,

Jazz up a quesadilla by adding a little thin sliced apple or pear. Good ol super market cheddar is an excellent cheese choice.

Bahalex ,

Vanilla ice cream and jello.

Bahalex ,

I enjoy seeing the evolution of our fashion all in one friend group- high waisted jeans from the 90’s to the jinco jeans of the early 2000’s. It’s fascinating.

Bahalex ,

I have nothing to add, just amused by the fact that a Tickle can’t get a giggle.

Bahalex ,

I was camping for the last eclipse. Didn’t make it north enough for totality, but fairly close. Seeing the little wedge of sun filtered and projected hundreds of times through the trees was pretty awesome- and in a way more interesting than looking at directly with the special glasses.

Even if you don’t look up , try to go out and enjoy it.

Bahalex OP ,

Found it by the trash bins by our house! We’re not fancy enough folks to have oil and vinegar at the table every meal, but I did receive a bunch of pothos cuttings as a sort of housewarming gift.

In fact, so not fancy that I peruse the trash bins for treasures…

Fiction!

I've finally fallen in love with reading again over the last year. Problem is I've only been reading non-fiction. it makes my brain hurt. I'd like to have some stuff I can turn to when attempting to read gender trouble gives me another headache. I don't have any particular preference for genre. I used to read fantasy, historical...

Bahalex ,

If you don’t mind a rogue, a rake, a real scoundrel (anti hero even) I’d say the Flashman books.

George Macdonald Frasier’s series of historical fiction.

Flashy is, by his own admission, not a good person, but a fun easy read.

Bahalex ,

For those who do care about driving, I’d agree. Where I am in Europe currently, I can hear many cars out of the proper gear, I can see it from the exhaust too. So many people stall trying to park, at stop signs and cross walks. Automatics are smarter and more efficient than humans now- for the majority of people the better choice, since they are lazy, distracted, and/or lack interest in the skill of driving.

Bahalex ,

I enjoyed the Redwall series around his age. Yes , they are formulaic after a while, but good fun pulp adventure for kids.
