Competition is good for everybody but those that have a stake in the companies doing the consolidating. Of course, the people who have said stakes would include basically every single lawmaker.

If you ask me, the only investments that lawmakers should be able to make is into a fund that only returns at a rate that the average wage in the nation increases. Any extra goes into funding social services.

That may have been very true for your store. Obviously the workers at the store who already unionized and those who are actively trying to unionize have had different experiences and feel differently.

Again, clearly those that unionized felt it was necessary, and clearly those thay are trying to do as well. If they ddint, they wouldn't be doing it. I'm not saying your experience was the same or that you're wrong for having enjoyed your time there. Just that your experience is not in any way, shape, or form the end all be all.

Things vary largely from store to store in all companies. I've worked at places that were essentially the exact opposite, overall company is absolutely horrible but my specific store had managers that were amazing and kept bullshit away from us.

Seriously. Housing supply is not the issue despite what the media wants to scream at you. The issue is the vast majority of new developments are massive McMansions that the average person has absolutely no hope of ever affording. The concept of a starter home is basically dead.

I recently finally got it through my family's skull that, no, I can't just go build a garage and slowly build onto it as I can afford like my great-grandparents dide. That starter homes are essentially nonexistent, and that a fairly large portion of those that do are being bought up and demolished to be turned into McMansions.

This is a good thing, even if the causes are not.

I don't think OP was meaning you have to be 100% self sufficient. I interpreted it more that you need community but you also need to know how to take care of yourself. How are you going to help your community if you can't help yourself. How is your community going to help you if they don't know how to do things. Local supply chains doesn't mean you're producing everything, it means it's coming from your community. Thats exactly how an untold amount of people survived the depression, communities banding together and taking care of each other.

Most homesteaders help our their neighbors if it's needed, and will receive help when they need it. They're not 100% isolated on their own.

I think the point is politics in a nation can change at any time, and as such you may lose the domain/no longer feel safe supporting that nation. Just because they wouldn't now doesn't mean they wouldn't in the future. (Especially with how well AfD is polling and how much CDU/CSU seem to be starting to cooperate)

Oklahoma’s highest criminal court denied the request to toss out Glossip’s execution, claiming a crucial piece of new evidence undermining his conviction “does not create a reasonable probability that the result of the proceeding would have been different.” The state parole board split 2-2 on whether to grant relief to Glossip, with one member recused because his wife helped prosecute Glossip.

Meanwhile, while Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) twice postponed Glossip’s execution, he’s more recently signaled that he intends to defer to the courts’ determination of whether this man should be executed.
