Black Jay up close.

Have been trying to get a good pic of these for a while, finally this one sat quite close on the roof.

White-faced Heron and Egrets catching fish in the shallows near Dunalley.

The heron has caught a fish and is looking at the camera, holding it in it's beak. The egrets are still looking.

A cropped zoom of the same heron a few moments later, with a small fish in it's beak, water drops hanging in the still air, a small wavelet where it withdrew from the water. The low sun reflects off the rippled surface leaving horizontal patterns across it's body, and lights up the white face, glinting from the fish in it's beak.

Gull swoops on the Sea Eagle

I could hear birds making a lot of noise and sure enough, the eagle was sitting in a tree just a few houses away. They will not tolerate it's presence at all.

I rated this one higher but for some reason I shared the one above.

Didn't have time for a tripod for these, just dashed down the street and leant over a thin paling fence - in body stabilisation doing it's best to help my not-so-steady hands.

A seagull swooping down on a Sea Eagle sitting on a dead tree branch. The gull is gliding away from the camera, wings flat, feet dangling and beak pointing downwards. The eagle is facing away to the right, and has turned it's head vertically to observe the gull just 30cm/1 foot above and left of it, but making no attempt to move. It's feathers ruffle in the wind. The clouded sky background is grey and featureless.
