One of the side effects of using an eclipse filter is that you must then take a long exposure. Clouds are in motion and that leads to pretty cool streaking effects like we see here! The doubled effect was caused by a kid bumping my camera, but I think it looks pretty cool lol

OH! OH! I just found this gem among my bracketed exposures of the eclipse! Got a super nice rainbowy halo during the diamond ring. And gorgeous wispy clouds all around! Single exposure, no blending.

The moon went in front of the sun

There were some clouds, but I managed to catch a usable photo or two

@KeithAmmann Great design! I copied it, though with two La Croix boxes for consistency. ;-)

@jalanhenning The nice thing about the Trader Joe's box is that it had a ready-made viewing window.

A stunning celestial event is visible across the country Monday, April 8, when the moon crosses directly in front of the sun: a total . For those in the path of totality, there will be a few brief moments when the completely covers the & the world becomes dark.

A partial solar will be visible across the contiguous United States, so even if you're not directly in the path, you should be able to see something special, weather permitting.

Anyone driving from Pittsburgh to Erie to see the eclipse. Haven’t seen any bus tours. I would go lol. 😆 seems silly for only a few minutes of it but it seems a good of reason as any for a road trip!

Did you know that:

  • when the eclipse is happening the moon will block some of the sunlight making it get darker outside than usual?

  • when your eyes adjust to the dark your pupils widen to capture more light

  • the unblocked part of the sun is still the same amount of powerful

  • you can permanently damage your retina by looking at the sun

Put all those facts together and think about it.

90% eclipse can still get ya.

Use your selfie camera to take a picture of the full moon tonight.

Hold your phone up in front of you with the behind you and look at your phone to line up the shot.

This is good practice for the because the moon and sun appear the same size in our sky.

By using your selfie camera with the Moon/ behind you it's easier to see your screen and change camera settings.

This is one of the only times I will tell you to bring your phone to play with while
