Planetary Society member Zaak Barnes from Denver, Colorado, created this beautiful composite of two eclipse photos he took: the 2024 total solar eclipse on the right and a 2022 total lunar eclipse on the left.
On the solar eclipse side, you get a great view of solar prominences, which were among the most exciting parts of this year’s eclipse.
OH! OH! I just found this gem among my bracketed exposures of the eclipse! Got a super nice rainbowy halo during the diamond ring. And gorgeous wispy clouds all around! Single exposure, no blending.

In the path of the #SolarEclipse?
Got a welding helmet?

"The only ones that are safe for direct viewing of the Sun with your eyes are those of Shade 12 or higher. These are much darker than the filters used for most kinds of welding."
A stunning celestial event is visible across the country Monday, April 8, when the moon crosses directly in front of the sun: a total #SolarEclipse. For those in the path of totality, there will be a few brief moments when the #moon completely covers the #sun & the world becomes dark.
A partial solar #eclipse will be visible across the contiguous United States, so even if you're not directly in the path, you should be able to see something special, weather permitting.

Reminder... The solar eclipse is just 2 weeks away. Masses of people, normally safe at home during darkness, will be gathered to watch the moon block the sun's light – a 3-minute bonus-round smorgasbord for creatures of the night!

Here in SW Ohio are many prehistoric first-peoples archaeological sites: Fort Ancient's Great Serpent Mound, SunWatch Indian Village, and more which could make interesting Solar eclipse viewing...

The big eclipse is just a month away! If you want to dig deeper into Solar science, these might be for you! We're within, but near the edge of the path of totality. The center is just a short trek north of here. I'm really looking forward to it.
