Did you know that road design included features?

In the ruins of , you'll notice small white stones interspersed with the large paving ones along the extensive roads.

Those white are 'cats eyes', i.e. gems that have a single line of inclusion of crystals of another mineral inside.

Upon light reflective on them (from the ), they enable the walker to see that they are still on the right path!

Low tides on Ireland's western coast have revealed the remains of defensive walls that are likely Bronze Age ramparts. Archaeologist Michael Gibbons discovered the ramparts, which are made of large limestone blocks, on a partially submerged isthmus, a narrow strip of land between two parts of the sea. But he's only recently obtained photographs of the site. https://www.livescience.com/archaeology/low-tides-reveal-bronze-age-fortress-that-likely-defended-against-irish-mainland

"While it is difficult to assess the level of both political and economic stress in Provincia Judaea, the unrest there, evident by the vast influx of legions and supplementary troops into it during these years, may account for some amount of any additional stress. If, as I have suggested, the locals were responsible for providing supplies and places of rest for their oppressors, it would have harmed the locals’ livelihood. These actions seemed to have laid the groundwork for the revolt, so when Hadrian announced his decision to found Aelia Capitolina over Jerusalem, tensions had reached a breaking point."

    Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope

Named after NASA’s first chief astronomer, the ‘mother of the Hubble Space Telescope,’ the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will have a field of view at least 100 times greater than Hubble, potentially measuring light from a billion galaxies in its lifetime.

Raphael was not only one of the most prolific & influential painters of the Italian Renaissance but also an accomplished architect.

This growing interest & his familiarity w/ Roman antiquities was visible in several of his works.
