Did you know that road design included features?

Let me tell you about a people from !

The Bugis are Muslim, but their belief is strongly influenced by their ancestral .

One centres around the Monitor lizard. The animal is believed to have a human & to be the twin of children. They are treated with respect.

Bugis also categorize people into 5 genders. Each is needed to keep the universe in balance.

Bissu, the which is neither man nor woman, is the intermediary between humans & .

This is a photo of a typical Bugis farm house. It shows a two-storey house surrounded by water. The house itself is on a small patch of sand. The house has rough, undyed wood panelling on the bottom floor, with laundry strung on its outside. The upper floor is elaborate. Many windows are visible, with colourful shutters. The upper floor is painted in a spring-green with light yellow accents. Some pink curtains are visible in each window. The house has a small balcony. The roof is triangular, with some extensions to each side. It is panelled in light blue and with yellow accents again. The roof beams cross. The background shows a flat, low plateau with some grass or fields. Waterbirds perch at the edge of the river. The sky is hazy with heat. The houses are so constructed due to the Bugis belief that there are gods above and below, & that they both settled the formerly empty middle. So each floor represents a divine sphere.

    Did you know that the oldest known was also chewing gum?

    tar is in its simplest form, burned birch . It forms a sticky black pitch that can be used as glue.

    Evidence for (& ) use has been dated to 200k or the Old Age.

    Birch tar is also a disinfectant & it has been found as a chewing gum in various locations in Europe.

    One birch gum piece from 5700 yrs ago, contained a complete human of a woman.
