How's it going for you this Wednesday? Do let me know.
I have launched my Pigeon Posted stationery and also my new print which makes me very happy. I started work on this in December 2023 so it has been a long time coming to fruition.
I have ordered a new chair as my chair is now busted and I still have a bad back. I got a Herman Miller refurbished chair which I am extremely excited about.
I do have the doctors tomorrow though which I am really not looking forward to.
I also ordered a Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-32 drum machine. The idea is to have something to play with in the evenings when I'm downstairs.
I'm supposed to be only doing two tasks a day for the next two weeks to see how I feel. I have to force myself to stop working after two tasks.
My ever popular Town and Country prints are running low! I only have three of the hare to bring to Bovey (normally I would bring five).
I really don't think I'm going to have time to print more before Bovey. But hopefully I will print more after Bovey. And more of the other Town and Country prints.
I promised to keep posting work in progress, so here are my upturned boats in progress. I am actually planning out at least some of the print on the computer before I try and make the stencils by hand.
It's a question of what can be positive and what can be negative. Pencil marks and brush strokes cannot be negative (obviously) but paper cuts can be, I guess. Maybe I've made this too hard for myself!
I have no idea how to make multiple layers accurate. I mean, obviously if you cut a boat out of paper then do do have a perfect positive and negative shape.
Anyway there it is! Do let me know what you think.
We are off on holiday soon to Cornwall (yay!) but this time we are staying near Bodmin so we will be able to access all the ports on the north coast which we haven't been to for years.
I have got a new lens (28mm) and will be taking photographs for potential prints. All very exciting.
You can expect more prints like this one, The Rooftops of St. Ives, although I will also be playing around with natural media screenprints and also some abstract prints. So we'll see what comes out.
Here's the print I just printed on Thursday. It is called The Old Lifeboat Station at Lizard. I managed to get 9 good ones.
£5 from every print sold is donated to the RNLI.
I am now getting ready for Winchester Print Fair, wrapping up unframed prints and restocking cards and garlands.
I feel like I'm getting slower and slower at printing. I used to do 12 to 15 prints a year.
Anyway this autumn I will be able to focus on experimenting with natural media and also some abstract prints. I will be doing fewer fairs than usual in the autumn to allow me to do this.
Printed five years ago almost exactly, this is my Seaside Garden print.
Inspired by Derek Jarman's garden in Dungeness and the surroundings it is a four colour screenprint.
I have some exciting news which I can't wait to share with you! Yes, on top of the commission. Feburary was a horrible month but it looks like March might be really bright and full of promise.
