"What do you know of hobgoblins?" asks Wyheree.
"Only the well-known axiom, 'there never is just one hobgoblin.'" is Xenograg's reply.

A domed room 400ft in diameter. A faintly glowing lunar globe 120ft in diameter made of enchanted moonstone levitates at the center of the room, rotating sluggishly.

The lunar globe emanates power akin to lunar light and magical effects may take place to relevant creatures of magic items as though they were in moonlight.

Numerous brass measuring instruments, scrolls and books are fitted along curved tables surrounding the globe offset by 50ft...

Apr 8: Enchanted Warchariots

Chariots on the battlefields are used by the wealthiest of nobles who either can work magic themselves, or can pay someone to do it for them. This means that while enchanting an entire warchariot is a lot of work, most nobles who can afford a chariot can afford to enchant them as well.

11.03 Midnight Urodela
A type of salamander related to newts and axolotls, the Midnight Urodela is a very rare creature that can only be found in pools where Tears of Kendra crystals form. It spends most of its life in water, only rarely going on to land, and is a nocturnal creature that dislikes the sun. Midnight Urodelas eat Teardust, a substance produced and excreted by Tears of Kendra, and while they are capable of eating other foods (such as algae and small insects) they...

Odd clumps of feathers the size of trees composed of brittle stone of shades of blue. Found usually on sprigbark far from the Infernal Resplendence, some theorists claim the feathers were part of the ancestors of scalebirds when they first arrived in the Spoke from worlds far beyond... Now it serves as shade against Resplendent Orbs that dot the Anthre in the darker reaches of the Qeleres.

CRANKWAGONS are large and contraption-y conveyances that wander the fringe, carrying portable windmills, animal capstans, millstones, and other hefty devices that supply and use rotary power.

They set up shop in settlements big enough to afford them but not established enough to have their own wind, water, or other mills yet. If the settlement grows or fails, they move on.

Many of those who work crankwagons are traders in relic gegaws, serious tinkerers, or both.

I was listening to @natebowling on Nerd Farmer this morning and learned about how in revolutionary Genoa there was a movement to have cross-class lunches on the streets of the city in order to create third place conversations between rich & poor.

I'm adding that to my fantasy world. Find more in a blog later today.

This post is your permission to start, restart, or stop doing , in case you needed any encouragement for any of that.

It's never too late to start, it's not a competition, and it's okay to stop if you're overwhelmed.

I only made it five days in this year before I had to stop from the sheer amount of crap I had going in.

Now that things are settling down, I'm going to pick it back up.

Looking forward to seeing more from this tag, it's been inspiring :)

#Lore24 #TeiasRealm Day 027: The Privosti mostly look upon undead with pity, as souls who have been trapped beyond the cycle of rebirth. Freeing these souls by putting undead to rest is generally seen as a positive thing. Followers of Cimant take this to another level, believing undead to be an abomination against life, which should be dealt with swiftly. Necromancers, in turn, are generally disliked by the Privosti and hated by the followers of Cimant, so long as they raise Privosti undead.

bwebster OP ,
@bwebster@dice.camp avatar

Day 027: Undead raised from non-Privosti corpses are somewhat more acceptable to the Privosti, particularly in the West, where they interact with the Hoyer. The Hoyer are renowned necromancers who treat becoming undead as a high honor. For the Privosti, it’s the lack of consent around raising undead that is most upsetting, which is not an issue amongst the Hoyer who are honored to be have their corpse raised.

Excited to start 2024 with an personal world building art challenge, Super City 24 (see hashtag below). This is the start of a thread of all my posts, pinned to the top.

GOAL: To build a city of 4 neighborhoods/areas, 31 locations in January 2024 and then use in a solo RPG game. I did this year and found it super rewarding to make something then putting it to use.

BrianKolm OP ,
@BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

SuperCity24 - Location 4.5 - Area 4/4

A walled community of McMansions. A place where everyone drives a golf cart around and there is golf, tennis, swimming and of bar with food. This is for the wealthy who are not rich enough for their own compound (see 4.1). It probably was advertised as having 'small town charm'.

BrianKolm OP ,
@BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

SuperCity24 - Location 4.6 - Area 4/4

Here is an street with a swanky pet salon, art gallery, and a door with a shield over it. Which one is full of secrets? Don't know, have not played the game yet (but the dice and I don't always agree.)

There is probably a yoga studio near by.

SuperCity24 - Location 4.7 - Area 4/4

POSTING a day early, since I like how it came out.

PROMPT: The 7th day is always an area onto itself.

A SUPERHERO HQ that has set-up a gift shop and food stand for the fans who make the pilgrimage to this futuristic building. will my PC hero want to join this group if possible, has their marketing gone to their head. I will have to find out.

    SuperCity24 - Area 4/4

    Here is area 4 of the city of Heathberg, Skyhills. An area that is named to sound like heaven, but only for those who can afford it.

    Skyhill's secure, private spaces where the residence can avoid 80+% of the population. Walled homes, cool/fancy stores, and possibly a way to shield oneself in a cloak of respectability.

    SuperCity24 - Area 5/5??

    Since there is no full week, the last 3 cards fit into 'special' locations that are like mini, standalone areas to themselves.

    These last three cards can flesh out details of my city of Heathburge.

    This is the hydroelectric power plant.

    BrianKolm OP ,
    @BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

    SuperCity24 - Area 5/5??

    A small town on the outskirts of the city of Heathburge for my SuperCity24 challenge.

    It's farm country and they grow olives and flowers and of course have services for city folks coming out to spend a day in the country.

    BrianKolm OP ,
    @BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

    SuperCity24 - Area 5/5??

    And the last location for my challenge is simply the docks along a river (I have not named, I realized).

    This location is really just functional, to round out my city for a future solo rpg session.

    SuperCity24 - FINISHED!

    part 1/2

    Here are the 31 cards that represent the city of Heathburge, CA.

    A town made successful, originally from the Heath Textile Company. The owner Helena Heath was a (mostly) beloved figure who tried to do right by her employees.

    Besides the university, the town is still known for textiles, but a high-tech version with Star Sail, inc.

    Having a hi-tech company also brings..

    BrianKolm OP ,
    @BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

    SuperCity24
    part 2/2

    ...Having a hi-tech company and a world class university also brings trouble: governments, tech ceo's, mad scientists, aliens, organized crime, and ... Supervillains. But Heathburge also has colorful defenders dedicate to helping those in need.

    Now a colorful NEW figure has appeared out of nowhere, shaking up this small city along the Jacqueline River.

    (To be continued)

    1/2 Thoughts on SuperCity24

    This is the 2nd year that I did an art challenge in Jan to worldbuild for a solo RPG game.

    In 2023 I had a 8.5" x 5.5" sketchbook and did fairly elaborate drawings. I included possible characters and history. It was really fun to use in my game session, but the sketchbook was too heavy to lug around (w/ a journal as well), and looking up details the father along the game went was a challenge.

    BrianKolm OP ,
    @BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

    2/2 Thoughts on SuperCity24

    This year, 2024 I drew the size of a trading card (2.5" x 3.5") on watercolor paper from Diaso in SF. Drawn in Micron pen and tinted with watercolor.

    These drawings weight a lot less then 2023's sketchbook (1 oz vs 11 oz) so should be easier to lug around, but have a lot less details. Using the cards in a game should be 'seeds' to develop the world through solo RPG play.

    @BrianKolm@mastodon.art avatar

    Getting ready to start my Solo RPG session based on my SuperCity24 world building art challenge from January. The plan is to share my game journaling of drawing and dice rolling each week.

    My character: J Box K is a superhero that is anthropomorphic jukebox, a magical construct.

    I have started to Figure out the character attributes and answer tough questions like... does he eat food, sleep and poop.
