Here are some more photos from my via ferrata tour a few weeks ago in the Rofan Mountains, located in Tyrol, Austria. The tour took place after a passing thunderstorm. I find the combination of rugged cliffs, gentle grassy hills, and mountains partially shrouded in clouds incredibly beautiful.

Caradhras | Milky way arch above Vršič pass

Photographer Matej Mlakar: ‘Vršič Pass is a high mountain crossing across the Julian in north-western . It is the highest pass in Slovenia, as well as the highest in the eastern Julian Alps. One of those peaks is Prednje Robičje (1,941 metres or 6,368ft high), where this image was taken’

A pretty empty and slightly bumpy high alpine mountain meadow with low grass in different shades/patches of greens and browns leading directly towards the base of the 400-500m tall Sella towers, craggy, sharp, tooth-like, vertical rock faces of characteristic dolomite, rising up to ~2600m. Gray sky. The entire scene almost feels like a minimalist landscape painting.

    A map of heat days in Europe in 2050 (if RCP8.5). The number of heat days (days with daily maximum temperature ≥ 30°C) shows a strong north-south gradient. The number of heat days increases in RCP2.6 and RCP8.5 until 2030. From 2030 onwards, the number of heat days continues to increase only for RCP8.5. The video clearly shows how the lines of the same number of heat days continuously proceed to the North... but halts at mountain ridges.
