Tulips are wildflowers native to central Asia in the Tien Shan Mountains near the Russian-Chinese border. They spread west and were cultivated in the Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey) by 1000 A.D., when the sultans introduced huge beds of tulips to parks and palace gardens.

it can be a challenge painting from life. the light (and rest of the world) constantly change-but theres nothing like working from direct observation. not only am i capturing a moment in time—me and the easel are part of the scene.

Got my parents' tax issues sorted out👍

Field work in Shawnigan has been moved to Sunday morning, due to 2 access points temporarily cut off from backroad wash-outs.

Wet roads, crossing lights across old train tracks & some light traffic - along small, suburban municipal road.
All white seagull feather on car dashboard. Windows are covered in raindrops.

don't last too long; once they start blooming. They're still beautiful while dying off for the season. I like how their foliage changes colours.

    Tulip toot for today.
    When our grandson brought my car back, he took a little tour of the tulips, so we took some pictures.
    A few more days and we will have a whole passel of new varieties.
    Flowers are fun.
