Recommendations please: Self-hosted web site analytics

Hello y'all! I have my personal (static) website / blog running on netlify out on the public internet. Netlify, in case you're not familiar, is not a traditional web host, so I can't add databases or anything else like that on the server itself. Right now, that site has zero analytics / visitor tracking and I've decided I want...

Something like multi-library support for self-hosted music? Trying to recreate iPod feel

I've been self-hosting my music in Navidrome for the last 3 or 4 years and in general I've been very satisfied. Before that I was using an old iPod. The key difference I haven't been able to recreate in Navidrome is a feeling of my own curated library where I scroll through and recognize all the artists....

It's can be a useful server with a built-in UPS if there's any services you'd like to isolate from the rest that you're running. One example is backups as you want a backup system to be fairly well isolated but anything sensitive would qualify.

You could also make use of it for purposes where the hardware can speed things up, I think that GPU could help with encoding etc.

I recently transitioned to self-hosted instances of both Mastodon and Pixelfed. Wanted experience and understanding of how federated systems work. Mastodon, far and above my favorite. Pixelfed, still not understanding the relatively few posts I see everyday; can't seem to follow hashtags.

A lot of the no-fucks-given pillaging of web content to train and doesn't surprise me. But this revelation actually shocked me. Automattic has been pulling data from SELF HOSTED blogs by means of its JetPack plugin and then selling it.

The truth is that Automattic has been selling access to this “firehose” of posts for years, for a variety of purposes. This includes selling access to self-hosted blogs and websites that use a popular plugin called Jetpack; Automattic edited its original “protecting user choice” statement this week to say it will exclude Jetpack from its deals with “select AI companies.”

Follow-up: OpenBSD routers on AliExpress mini PCs

I got lots of replies to the last post showing the little OpenBSD internet gateway setup (super interesting; thanks!). Here's more info and pictures:

Something I've been meaning to share for years now.

    Another successful OpenBSD setup

I've been buying these little boxes from AliExpress for years to use as firewalls and routers. My oldest one is almost 9 years old now! OpenBSD installs just fine. Just a BIOS tweak to always boot up after power is restored.

I run a single user server.

Dealing with this annoying AF the right way is killing me.

I have to report the post, select spam. Select (one at a time) each of the 30 other identical posts and then submit and block.

Then I have to navigate to moderation and suspend that account. In itself a 10 - 20 second multi click operation.

I'm getting new spam from unsuspended remote users at least once every 20 minutes.

I haven't played with bluesky. I'm not really interested in spending time over there at this moment, but i would be vaguely interested in mastodon <-> bluesky integrations that people are using. Anyone got something they like, or a cross account publishing (especially a self-hosted or self-hostable solution).

Working on a running on a 5 to handle small-scale semi-private social organisation. Needing a calendar, some form of threaded social chat, file sharing, etc. Ideally using / / etc. standards so existing apps can talk to it. Any recommendations? (Other than a larger SD card.)
