Hello y'all! I have my personal (static) website / blog running on netlify out on the public internet. Netlify, in case you're not familiar, is not a traditional web host, so I can't add databases or anything else like that on the server itself. Right now, that site has zero analytics / visitor tracking and I've decided I want...
Does cloud providers share the IP addresses and the alloted users to these big corps and defect the whole purpose of a privacy frontend? Are there any service (FOSS) that could randomise my servers IP?...

I've been self-hosting my music in Navidrome for the last 3 or 4 years and in general I've been very satisfied. Before that I was using an old iPod. The key difference I haven't been able to recreate in Navidrome is a feeling of my own curated library where I scroll through and recognize all the artists....
A friend was looking for an app so I explored some FOSS ones. It might be helpful to take it a step further and self host it so that family members can coordinate care....
I have a calibre server setup on my home server and was wondering how to sync it to the version on my desktop so I can upload books to an ereader using USB.
Due to unfortunate circumstances (me dropping the laptop) I have now ended up with a half broken laptop that has a broken screen and a dying battery. I could repair it, however, I don't wanna bother as I'm very likely gonna be getting a new one soon....
It's can be a useful server with a built-in UPS if there's any services you'd like to isolate from the rest that you're running. One example is backups as you want a backup system to be fairly well isolated but anything sensitive would qualify.
You could also make use of it for purposes where the hardware can speed things up, I think that GPU could help with encoding etc.
Ideally, there'd be a simple RPM installer compatible with Alma 9 that I can point to a samba share that holds all the photos, kind of like what I do with Jellyfin. Also nice if it uses an otherwise unused port or I can easily set what port it uses....
I recently transitioned to self-hosted instances of both Mastodon and Pixelfed. Wanted experience and understanding of how federated systems work. Mastodon, far and above my favorite. Pixelfed, still not understanding the relatively few posts I see everyday; can't seem to follow hashtags. #pixelfed#mastodon#selfhosted#activitypub
A lot of the no-fucks-given pillaging of web content to train #ai and #llms doesn't surprise me. But this revelation actually shocked me. Automattic has been pulling data from SELF HOSTED#WordPress blogs by means of its JetPack plugin and then selling it.
The truth is that Automattic has been selling access to this “firehose” of posts for years, for a variety of purposes. This includes selling access to self-hosted blogs and websites that use a popular plugin called Jetpack; Automattic edited its original “protecting user choice” statement this week to say it will exclude Jetpack from its deals with “select AI companies.”
I've been buying these little boxes from AliExpress for years to use as firewalls and routers. My oldest one is almost 9 years old now! OpenBSD installs just fine. Just a BIOS tweak to always boot up after power is restored.
I recently decided to replace the SD card in my Raspberry Pi and reinstall the system. Without any special backups in place, I turned to rsync to duplicate /var/lib/docker with all my containers, including Nextcloud....
I'm looking into building my first NAS/Jellyfin server, and one thing I keep wondering about is whether I should try and make it work as a Sunshine server to stream games to my TV via Moonlight....
I haven't played with bluesky. I'm not really interested in spending time over there at this moment, but i would be vaguely interested in mastodon <-> bluesky integrations that people are using. Anyone got something they like, or a cross account publishing (especially a self-hosted or self-hostable solution).
Working on a #selfhosted#homeserver running on a #raspberrypi 5 to handle small-scale semi-private social organisation. Needing a calendar, some form of threaded social chat, file sharing, etc. Ideally using #fediverse / #activitypub / etc. standards so existing apps can talk to it. Any recommendations? (Other than a larger SD card.)
Recommendations please: Self-hosted web site analytics

[Question] If I selfhost a privacy frontend on cloud, wouldn't the original service get my server IP and track back to me?

Something like multi-library support for self-hosted music? Trying to recreate iPod feel

How to sync local and remote calibre servers

Ideas for how to repurpose a half broken laptop
Due to unfortunate circumstances (me dropping the laptop) I have now ended up with a half broken laptop that has a broken screen and a dying battery. I could repair it, however, I don't wanna bother as I'm very likely gonna be getting a new one soon....
Selfhosted photo manager kind of like Jellyfin
