You need to be building up your mutual aid networks. You need to go out into your town and meet people and build up protections for each other.
If you dont know where to start, here are a few leads. Check out:
= Your library and see what groups meet there. Pick a couple and attend their meetings.
= Food pantries. Search for local food pantries and go volunteer. Talk to the other people volunteering.
= Your local NAACP group. Even if you're white, join. Meet people. They've gone through worse. Learn from them. Help out.
Once you meet people find out what other groups they are a part of. Most people join more than one group. Keep joining groups and meeting new people until you find the ones that you vibe the best with.
Make this your hobby for the next couple of months to the next couple of years.

Hey. Today is the day and I really want to ensure my rat gets proper diagnosis before we decide whether we should euthanise her, or not. I guess it's probably inevitable, but still worth trying.
It will require blood samples, Roentgen and tomography, and if the rat lives probably also histopathology. And if it doesn't, euthanasia is also a thing vet does.
I really wanted money to not be a problem, but it's impossible. Since it all happened so fast at the end of the month and required so much veterinary care before finding out my rat is afflicted with cancer.
Needless to say, if you're feeling generous, you can make my life a lot easier. Thank you for all support you gave me already. I'll really try for this to be the end of this.

Anyone ever done a 'community project bingo card'? Don't think people have any idea how broken the system is and how much social work type stuff small, poorly funded local organisations like us have to do. This week I have spent hours talking with hospital, police, post office and train station staff, council, housing team, GP surgery to track down a missing person and get them the help they need. Hopefully all sorted now .. absolutely none of this is my job but we have the local connections to do it. For those of you wondering where social services fits in, I could not get hold of social services at all.. was on hold for an hour and gave up. I guarantee all of them are doing similar #SocialWork#Crisis stuff to us and struggling with funding.
