Anyone ever done a 'community project bingo card'? Don't think people have any idea how broken the system is and how much social work type stuff small, poorly funded local organisations like us have to do. This week I have spent hours talking with hospital, police, post office and train station staff, council, housing team, GP surgery to track down a missing person and get them the help they need. Hopefully all sorted now .. absolutely none of this is my job but we have the local connections to do it. For those of you wondering where social services fits in, I could not get hold of social services at all.. was on hold for an hour and gave up. If you are able to financially afford to donate to good causes.. please look around and see who is doing community work in your area. I guarantee all of them are doing similar #SocialWork#Crisis stuff to us and struggling with funding. One-off or monthly #donations via online sites will all include #GiftAid if donors are UK tax payers so your money goes a lot further and regular income is hugely important for all of us. Ok, fuck this noise, it's Friday. I'm going to food distribution.
Not because I'm a good person.
Because I'm fucking angry.
I'm going to feed people for free without them proving to me that they deserve it because I fucking hate the price gouging at the grocery store. I fucking hate what SCOTUS is doing. I fucking hate our elected officials.
I feed others for free out of pure spite and malice.
90 short for a medical scan. Just an extra copay too much. Hoping to go for end of day walk-in. Help make it so.
UPDATE: Only 35 to go! They said they're open for walk-ins at the end of day. This is important for my health, as it determines what we're doing with meds. Almost end of day. Please boost. Anything helps!
I went to my first NAACP meeting yesterday and met some really awesome people doing really awesome work in my town.
Some were new like me. Some had been there a couple of years. Some have seen shit that I've only seen depicted in a couple of black and white photos.
They fought through it then and they fight through it now. Nothing brightens your day more than leaning into the fight with your shoulder pressed next to the shoulder of someone who has seen much worse than you.
Go join the #mutualAid groups that already exist in your town. Meet folks. They will introduce you to more folks. Pick a thing, whatever it is, and do it as you can with what time you have.
(Also, I met so many new and wonderful people that I am proper fried right now and will hole up in a dark room and recover. I have food distribution this evening and that makes me happy and will help with recovery. Yay introversion and life on the spectrum! 😅)
Doctor sent me for a scan. Help me cover the copay, pick a reward!
I hate this but US healthcare is a copay for everything. I need this to determine if I need a med fix or urgent infusion. Appointments, other meds, etc covered. But this is 100 extra I don't have. Help a weirdo keep on, please.
