@randahl Looking at Ukraines Maidan revolution there were three key things.
The people knew it was their last chance and were so incredibly brave.
The Berkut were 100% bullies. Happy to smash you but actually cowards just looking to gain. They ran from AK47 gunfire that might have been their own.
One single soldier took the mic and said his unit with his dad in it were coming for them in the morning if the President didn’t resign. A credible threat to the cowards.
As always, you need the threat of superior violence to keep the peace. #Georgia 🇬🇪 will not succeed unless someone with credible power or in a group with credible power also takes a stand.
🇬🇪 World, are you still watching? Tonight might have just been the biggest gathering of #Georgians marching in #Tbilisi against the #Russian violations and law infiltrating the Georgian government! Please watch, share, stand with the brave people of #Georgia!🇬🇪 #NoToRussianLaw
Astonishing pictures from #Tbilisi#Georgia - a rally of likely 150K+ people against the planned 'foreign agents law' (very much along the lines of what the Kremlin introduced in Russia)

Georgia GOP vice chair booted for illegally voting 9 times as a convicted felon. He was convicted for felony check forgery in the past.
Voter fraud aside, the GOP voted him is as vice chair in 2023, the number two spot, knowing he had been convicted of a $38,000 bad check forgery scheme, where he knowingly deposited bad checks into his construction business. #USPol#Georgia
A demonstrator gestures to riot police during an opposition protest against ‘the Russian law’ in Tbilisi. Western politicians and diplomats called for a halt to spiralling violence in Georgia after security forces used water cannon, teargas, stun grenades and rubber bullets to break up a peaceful rally against a ‘foreign influence’ bill
1/... The only hot take I've seen is from Joyce Vance saying this would push the trial past the election. That seems pretty rational to me.
But hopefully, the outcome will be ok

For everyone complaining about the Fulton County case appeal, let me just say that our #Georgia Court of Appeals has incredibly smart, hard-working, and serious judges. They are good and decent folks by and large. So cool it on your hot takes and conspiracy theories there.
The decision to hear the appeal reopens the possibility that#FaniWillis, the Fulton County district attorney, could be disqualified from prosecuting Trump & 14 #CoConspirators over efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
The decision to hear the appeal, handed down by a 3-judge panel, is likely to further #delay the #Georgia#criminal case against #Trump & 14 of his #CoConspirators, making it less likely that the case will go to #trial before the Nov #election.
The terse 3-sentence announcement reopens the possibility that DA #FaniWillis could be #disqualified from the biggest case of her career, & one of the most significant state criminal cases in the nation’s history.
At issue is a romantic relationship she had w/ #NathanWade, a lawyer she hired to handle the prosecution of #Trump. Defense lawyers argued that the relationship amounted to an untenable conflict of interest, & that DA #FaniWillis & her entire office should be removed from the case.
NEW: The #Georgia Court of Appeals will take up #Trump’s immediate appeal of lower court order that declined to disqualify Fulton County district attorney #FaniWillis. #legal 1/…
“By delaying a final decision, #Cannon gives other judges presiding over #Trump#criminal cases —US Dist Judge #TanyaChutkan in Washington & #FultonCounty Superior Court Judge Scott #McAfee in #Georgia —a window to schedule their own trials this summer or fall. It’s unclear, though, if either of those judges can prepare their cases in time.”
This came after committee's GOP chair said he would subpoena Willis if she did not voluntarily testify.
The panel is probing whether Willis misused any public funds during her relationship with former spl prosec Nathan Wade
Rob DiRienzo:
DA #FaniWillis says she will not testify before the GOP-led #Georgia senate investigative committee: "I will not appear to anything that is unlawful," adding. "I'm sorry that folks get pissed off that everybody gets treated evenly."
“The GOP will never rebuild until we move on from the #Trump era, leaving conservative (but not angry) Republicans like me no choice but to pull the lever for #Biden,” writes former #Georgia Lt. Gov.GeoffDuncanGA. a Republican, on supporting Biden.
Via Rahul Bali, Georgia Politics Reporter for wabenews:
After #Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations hearing, Chair Bill Cowsert said Fulton County DA #FaniWillis has an "open invitation to appear" BUT "if she's not willing to come and explain her conduct or misconduct, then we will subpoena her".
So, I know I keep saying that I'll drop out of the U.S. campus anti-Joe Biden protest movement debate. I jumped in since I worry so much about our climate crisis that anything that might help out the GOP is something to worry about.
I've seen now how small the anti-Biden movement actually is despite how loud they are I'm not so worried except that since I monitor what motivates voters in the USA the true tiny size of this crowd may belie their political danger.
This isn't really a part of the thread, but an addition to it about protesting effectively versus ineffectively.
Please monitor the protests happening in Georgia against Putinism and try to learn valuable lessons to help your movement bring about positive progress.
GUTEN MORGEN, ziemlich geregnet hier aber ohne Überschwemmungen.

Zustand der Pressefreiheit
Weltweit schlechter, in Deutschland besser
Coming tomorrow: the state Senate Special Committee on Investigations continues its probe of Fulton DA #FaniWillis with a second hearing. This one features testimony from two senior Fulton officials, including county commission Chairman Robb Pitts
Two months ago, the panel heard testimony from Ashleigh Merchant, the defense attorney who's been leading the effort to remove Willis from the election interference case #TrumpIndictment
