Colorado Blue Columbine Painterly by Debra Martz
This slender beauty of delicate flowers with bright colors is the state flower of Colorado. It and a lovely variety of flowers in the garden at the Cuchara Yacht Club were attracting butterflies, bees, and moths. Digital brushes and filters were used for a painterly finish to my photo. https://debra-martz.pixels.com/featured/colorado-blue-columbine-painterly-debra-martz.html
I’ve not seen any #monarch#butterflies so far this spring but they’ve obviously been here. Spotted these two monarch #caterpillars yesterday on the one milkweed in my front #garden, a survivor that has regrown after dying back to the soil following our big winter freeze. Hope these make it to adulthood, the ones I saw last year disappeared before pupating.
I don't have Delphinium in my garden(although I love them), but I noticed countless leaves from foxglove flowers on the way—way more than I have ever had!
My ground phlox (possibly Phlox subulata/moss phlox) has achieved blanket status.
I'm a sucker for mass blooms. A friend of mine has large swaths of this phlox & was kind enough to borrow me a cup 2 yrs ago. A cup that was 1.5' x 2' chunk that I then plopped down in a 1.5' x 2' space.
Hawaiian poppy, watercolor. This prickly little plant is also known as Pua Kala, meaning thorny flower. The fragile petals typically last only one day.
