I just almost got hit by a bus on my bike. You would think a professional bus driver would understand the rules of priority at a 4-way stop, but apparently not.
Last week I I almost get hit as a pedestrian.
And I don't necessarily feel safer in a car, with all the weaving and running red lights and brake checking that I've been seeing.

Color combos in my rock garden

In the foreground is some sedum that is green at the base, with orange stalks growing up and hooking over like cane shapes. In the background are mounds of white and purple creeping thyme, and some blurry greenery
In front we see some white creeping thyme flowers. Behind and to the left, it blends into some purple creeping thyme. Behind and to the right is some orange and green sedum with a few tall stalks
We see mostly purple creeping thyme flowers, with a few white flowers popping up where the two thymes meet. The white flowers stand a little taller than the purple flowers, so they stand out, like they're playing peekaboo

Did somebody see a very hungry caterpillar?

Looking up at an English oak leaf. Something has eaten a series of round holes through it, in a nice line, and we can see the blue sky through the holes. Reminiscent of the Very Hungry Caterpillar book by Eric Carle, which features holes through the pages as the caterpillar progresses through its meals.

    After the rain. This cute little grouping is just too easy to anthropomorphize.

    Three mushrooms surrounded by cedar and other leaf debris. They have beige stalks and dark beige caps. They don't appear to have gills. The back left one is tallest, and the back right one is also pretty tall, and the one in front is much shorter and is leaning to the left. It looks like a little kid with two parents.

    The snail on the right here is very small, smaller than the tip of my pinky finger. So the one on the left is absolutely minuscule.

    It was breezy before sunrise so I got to appreciate some snails without being devoured by mosquitoes.

    Another snail on the asphalt path, also moving to the right. This one has a darker shell, yellow toward the bottom opening and brown toward the top of the spiral. Its body is more gray.

    Oxeye daisy. The geometric fractal pattern in its center is like my mammillaria cactus.

    Looking straight down at a mammillaria cactus. Like the daisy, it has concentric intersecting spirals radiating out from the center, of deep green flesh with clusters of bright white spikes.

    Two oxeye daisies, one larger and closer to the camera, the other smaller and in the background. They each have a yellow center with little buds forming concentric intersecting arcs that spiral out from the center. This is surrounded by flat long white petals all around, each petal about as long as the diameter of the yellow part.

    A patch of intermingled purple and white flowering creeping thyme, with the flower buds just starting to form and showing only a hint of the final color.     My gloriously weedy yard. Pretty soon the dandelions will be taken over by the asters and the goldenrod.
    Edit to add:

    Looking toward a corner of a yard, with brown fence around the perimeter, many small young trees inside, some big mature trees outside, and lots of white dandelion flowers that have gone to seed. There is a shadow on the ground at the right, which makes the dandelions stand out even more in contrast.

    Thinking about the time we were experimenting with clover as a ground cover. The neighbor asked what we were doing, and he was shocked and disgusted. "You're sowing clover?! ON PURPOSE?!!!"

    I think slugs are pretty cool. Of course, I don't have a vegetable garden and I don't mind them eating anything they like in my yard.

    the little creature!!

    the poss! zoomed out a bit but still a dark grainy picture through a glass door of a virginia opossum snuffling around in the grass next to a covered chair on a concrete patio. they are light covered and fluffy with dark ears and eyes
    same possum but their head is up and they look like a weird dog again. inexplicable really
    the poss again. also looking like a different weird dog. they look kind of forlorn for some reason. they are kind of staring off into space at the concrete. strange

    Dandelion at sunset

    A dandelion gone to seed, with the setting sun directly behind it. It has a long stem, and a round head of dainty seeds radiating from the center, each a thin line with a branching tuft at the end. On the left and right we see two more dandelions that have lost their yellow petals but have not yet opened up their seed heads.
