"Donald Trump’s conviction on all 34 felony counts on Thursday marked a full-blown victory for Alvin Bragg, the first-term Manhattan district attorney who was criticized for using a novel legal strategy to bring a historic criminal case against a former president."
@wdlindsy@bmacDonald94 It seemed unlikely to me that they would only convict on some — if they accepted the prosecution theory of the case, it would have been odd to exclude some charges.
@michaelgemar@bmacDonald94 Yes, I agree. As some commentators are saying, the charges were like one big ball of wax. If he's clearly guilty on one of them, then he's guilty on all of them.
@GottaLaff@3x10to8mps Laffy, that's a valid point. Since he's already attacked Trump publicly 500 times prior to trial, does another 50 times during trial really diminish whatever credibility the guy has?
1 wk before Trump’s#criminal trial in Manhattan, appeals court judge rejected effort to pause the case & move it to a diff location.
Judge #LizbethGonzalez issued the decision Mon afternoon after hearing arguments from Trump’s lawyers & lawyers from the Manhattan DA #AlvinBragg’s office.
In court papers made public on Wednesday, prosecutors argued the April 15 trial date should go ahead as planned, noting it was Trump’s 8th bid to postpone the schedule as part of his broader #legal strategy to delay all 4 of his criminal trials beyond the Nov #election.
DA Prosecutor Matthew Colangelo wrote that the national attention surrounding the case isn’t likely to subside & #Trump “deliberately generates press attention himself.”
“Defendant simply cannot have it both ways: complaining about the prejudicial effect of pretrial #publicity, while seeking to pollute the #jury pool himself by making baseless & inflammatory accusations about this #trial, specific #witnesses, individual #prosecutors, & the Court itself,” Colangelo wrote.
Prosecutors’ new filing states #Trump’s #delay motion was littered w/ inaccuracies & matters already rejected by the judge. They also expressed doubts about the reliability of the data from Trump’s team.
“None of the new information presented by defendant supports his request for an adjournment; indeed, much of the new data actually confirms that this Court will be able to find 12 #impartial#jurors (& alternates) in Manhattan,” Colangelo wrote.
@Nonilex This miserable wretch is maligning everyone and everythng in his attempt to break free of the charges against him. I appreciate your doing this work of relaying his words and commenting on his meaning. What an awful creature!
@Nonilex Merchan probably didn't start out hating Trump, but using social media to sic his crazed armed-to-the-teeth disciples on Merchan's daughter may be moving that needle a bit.
#Trump’s attorneys accused #ManhattanDA#AlvinBragg of a pursuing a “fantasy” case against TFG by tying #HushMoney payments made to his fmr attorney #MichaelCohen w/the 2016 election.
[uh, sure, let’s talk about fantasy f⁕⚠︎er, “I’m the real president” & I’m the Queen of the universe, delusional mf]
Both #Trump’s lawyers & the DA’s office have urged the judge to exclude #testimony & arguments from the other side. Trump is seeking to disqualify testimony from #MichaelCohen, as well as #evidence related to other alleged “catch & kill” schemes Trump’s circle executed ahead of the 2016 presidential #election.

In a new filing to NY Supreme Court Justice Juan #Merchan, #Manhattan DA #AlvinBragg said he expects to receive one more set of docs from the US atty’s office — Bragg’s federal counterparts. Those federal prosecutors previously investigated much of the same conduct that became the basis for Bragg’s office to charge Trump w/violating state #laws on business records.
