The Reddit-style Fediverse platform Kbin seems to have ceased development 😔

HOWEVER... a fork called Mbin is continuing Kbin's work and is now very active! 👍

There are links to Mbin server lists on the Github page, for example there is a major Mbin server at https://fedia.io

It's never easy for Fedi developers, especially if they're the ones leading a project!

Lots of respect to any dev who does any kind of work in building the Fediverse in free open source software. If they have to stop, they have still built code that others can build upon, as is the case with Mbin building upon Kbin. 👏

@FediTips sad to see how kbin basically crashed and burned. It seemed so promising a year ago... now taken over mostly by spam.

The Fediverse has a Twitch-style live streaming and chat platform @owncast:

You can follow OwnCast accounts from Mastodon etc, streams will post when going live.

If you just want to see OwnCast in action: https://live.retrostrange.com

You can use your Mastodon etc account to verify your identity in OwnCast streams' chat.

Anyone can make an OwnCast server, though at moment it requires some tech skill (more info at https://owncast.online/quickstart/).
