#Republicans, who control the #House, oppose legislation to tighten ethical guidelines for the justices & have portrayed overhaul as a political effort to damage the legitimacy of a #conservative #SCOTUS that has delivered them major victories on #abortion & other issues [+ they worked decades to install this court].

Why are algorithms called algorithms? A brief history of the Persian polymath you’ve likely never heard of.

Over 1,000 years before the internet and smartphone apps, Persian scientist and polymath Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī invented the concept of algorithms.

I was told following a lot of people is a sign of inauthenticity

But I like the firehose of content

I'll wade into it and get swept away to parts unknown. Isn't that the point of social media, discovery?

And you can make a list for posters you don't want to miss

Someone says something funny... I feel like following them

Why not? Who cares? Are there magic rules here?

FUCK IT

I'M GOING TO FOLLOW EVERYONE!

(Unless you're a "both sides the same" troll/ idiot, then I'm blocking your ass)

I have the power

It's smart to follow alot here on because unlike where they feed you all sorts of shit based on their (manipulated) , you aren't getting one damn toot until you fill your follow count. You have to follow a lot to get a rich experience.

That needs to be hammered for new accounts: follow, follow, follow. Then follow some more.

Between that and the esoteric mystery of picking a server, a lot of people just don't get it.

Fmr treas sec is telling investors he has a plan to buy
Mnuchin told potential backers he aims to maneuver around its price of >$100B & ’s ban of the export of recommendation .
He indicated he could overcome those hurdles by offering to buy the w/o the export-blocked , essentially forcing his consortium to remake a service built on billions of lines of code.

Facebook’s algorithm prioritizes pictures over text. So if you have a thought, it’s better to take a screenshot of your words and post that. Turning 150 words and 800 characters into 156kb.

What a waste. Facebook is so dumb.

Which is why I’m complaining pointlessly over here.

The day when I don't have to "promote" those that argue with me in replies for no reason, will be a wonderful day....

The fact that blocking and defederating someone doesn't remove their replies to your posts is absolutely ridiculous....

Edit: AP creators in the replies talking about solutions to this!👍

Thank you for the crash course in the / . And thank you for sharing lashman's art!

Love your sketch gifs, lashman! Always wondered how a professional sketches, ordering of pen strokes, etc. Do you show erasures and do-overs? Just curious about the craft.

The war against the algorithm of "well meaning" people is like going to play roulette in the casino 🎰:

the bank always wins🏆!

On top of this, the game is completely rigged!-- tweaks the every time results are not to his liking.

All , , , , and other people of notoriety must STOP posting 📫 on #X immediately!!!

Mastodon is built differently. Just like the birdsite, you won't see every toot in existence but the 'why' is different. On birdsite, an #algorithm decided. Here, it's your #social connections that truly, organically determine what you see.

It works because it gives you control over who you interact with, and the people you interact with shape the timelines of you and all your neighbors.
