Nice, always wanted to change the fugly default swiss wallpaper. Do I just put the .tpl in the root of the SD-card? How did you convert the wallpapers to .tpl?
Unfortunately Cubeboot doesn't seem to work with GC-Loader yet. Would love to get the full intro animation.
Hey! No with GC Loader i dont know if they will make it work :( Either way you can activate boot through ipl on Swiss settings to at least enjoy the boot animation when opening a game! You have to name whichever wallpaper you want to use to just "backdrop.tpl" and put it in the Swiss folder on your SD card! You have the full tutorial to make your own backdrops inside the Download file, theres a text in english and another one in spanish there. Its pretty easy but requires using the terminal/console.
Hey, a bit late to the party here but can't get the wallpaper to work. I have a GC-Loader and a SP2SD for the swiss-settings. Tried putting the tpl-file in the root of the SD on my GC-Loader (together with the swiss boot.iso) but no luck. Also tried on my SP2SD (swiss/settings) but didn't work either. Could you be a bit more specific exactly where the "backdrop.tpl" should be placed, please? Any settings that need to be enabled in swiss? I'm on the latest R1622 release.
I played through it, it was so so. The edgy, crass 2000s pop-culture humor really isn't my thing. It seems that they were trying to be more "adult" but it comes off as very juvenile. Aside from that, it's an average platformer in the classic Rare style, but quite dumbed down compared to Banjo-kazooie. Also there's too many gimmicky minigames.
Imo it's not a bad game - just a mediocre one, especially from such an incredible studio. But it had a long and troubled development, so that excuses it a little.
I have been working on putting a stellar hd+ in an xbox, but there is so many things wrong with that console I had to shelve it for my own sanity. I also recently got pixelfx's retro gem for a PS2, but I haven't had a chance to actually install it yet and it's an internal mod like the hd+. It looks like pixelfx also has a seperate upscaler called the morph4k though, that might be worth checking out.
Honestly, I didn't know that upscalers like that existed but now I'll have to check them out for myself too
It's a game that really isn't that good, that's carried by a swarm of late 90s good vibes and the promise of 3 amazing Star Wars films. There's a charm to its jank and it really captured the spirit of the excitement for the prequel trilogy.
I could never go back and play it again, but I will say the mos eisley section was oddly ambitious, and a weird blend of mechanics that did, at least to young me, make me feel very immersed.
