Inb4 cease and desist

Minecraft clones exist. Calling a clone a "Minecraft port" and using that trademark is not the smartest idea, though.

jjagaimo ,

Not from microsoft but rather from nintendo. Same reason portal 64 got axed - the library he used had nintendo proprietary stuff but valve was apprehensive about being sued even if he used an open source library to replace it and didnt use any nintendo software or branding

Dreamcast finally let me access the internet from the privacy of my own room.

Ashtear , in Games where an emulated console version outclasses the PC port?
@Ashtear@lemm.ee avatar

A number of Tactics Ogre fans will tell you that the PSP version, whether vanilla or with the One Vision mod, is superior to the recent Reborn PC release. Each version has its pluses and minuses, so it's largely a matter of taste. The port itself was fine on release, despite the recent trend of SQEX PC ports that were messy on release but were fixed later (like Chrono Trigger and Cross).

RightHandOfIkaros , in News Shadowrun-Style Action RPG 'Secret Of The Four Winds' Is A Sega CD Game On Cartridge | Time Extension

For some reason I can't help but think this looks a little bit derivative of Illusion City for the MSX Turbo R.

kaffiene , in What’s Your Oldest System?

The earliest one I bought was an Amiga 500 which I still think is one of the greatest machines of all time. I loved the community - really creative. I also own a ZX81 which was the first machine I ever did any programming on

The oldest functioning system I have is an Atari 2600. it was originally my mother's.

DarkMetatron , in What’s Your Oldest System?

My oldest running system is a Commodore 64C with a 1541-2 floppy drive but that is for years only a nice accessories on my wall, because my MiSTer Multisystem completely replaced that (and my Amiga 500 and my SNES and all other retro consoles I own) in every way.

Depending on how big the game is, I will definitely have to buy some CDs and burn the game to play it on my Dreamcast. Otherwise it's going straight to an emulator.

A lot of ubisoft and ea single player games since they don't need uplay

Case in point Assassins Creed Black flag which requires a login at the start of search session, runs flawlessly on CEMU

Squizzy ,

As an aside, I hate the injection of these services so much. Got around to playing mirage and this huge likr 20% of screen notification keeps popping up for Uconnect.

Oh how I wish Sony would allow me to block crrtain games from internet access.

TwistedPear , in 'SuperSega' FPGA Console Will Play Genesis/Mega Drive, Master System, Saturn And Dreamcast Games | Time Extension

Short answer, absolutely not.

The Virtex Ultrascale+ FPGA boards are $10,000 AND UP.

If you look up why Mister will not move up to more powerful FPGA chips, this is why.

Would it be cool? Yes. Definitely.

Also yes, definitely.

wavebeam ,
@wavebeam@lemmy.world avatar

They might be able to do what Taki did and source the components they’re looking for directly from the manufacturer rather than using existing boards.

I do think this is a big stretch, but things in this market are starting to change.

Is it Linux or Android based?

nave ,

Anbernic uses a Linux based os I believe.

hperrin ,

They’ve used both in the past. It kind of depends on the chipset.

FangedWyvern42 ,

This one is probably Linux given that it uses the same CPU as their other Linux handhelds.

Lost_My_Mind , (edited ) in What are some good YouTube channels about the Nintendo 64?

He's not exclusively N64, he covers a wide array of topics, but you could probably find a few decent videos from The Gaming Historian.

Same thing with Nintendrew, and MetalGamerJesus.

Edit: Sorry, I had the wrong name. His name is actually MetalJesusRocks. Brain fart!

MammyWhammy ,

In the same vein as MetalGamer Jesus, Game Sack has some N64 episodes as well.

SkepticalRobot , (edited ) in What are some good YouTube channels about the Nintendo 64?

ThaBeast721 if you're looking for plot and gameplay summaries. ThaBeast is on a challenge to complete every N64 game.

ssj2marx , in Poor Sega just didn't get the timing right.

If the Dreamcast hadn't had the misfortune of coming out during the objectively best console generation, it would have done fine - but also, if it hadn't been the latest in a series of flops (Sega CD, 32x, Saturn), then maybe the Dreamcast's failure wouldn't have driven Sega out of the console market. Sega struck gold with the Genesis and they just couldn't replicate it, RIP to a real one,
