@GottaLaff Oh this is tremendously exciting news, Laffers!! An official move date! You’ve worked your tiny bum off for this… I think The Orange Asshat was in the WH when you began to apply for residency, which seems decades ago. Congrats to Hammy and Mr. Laffy what great peaceful times lie ahead for you and the Twinzies. Now Hammy can say he went from being Australian to Canadian.
Could not be happier for you. ❤️❤️
👀 Gonna’ have to take the train from Montreal for you plus this:
When Trump announced, the idea was born. When Trump won, it took shape. When he appointed his SCOTUS justices, it gelled and we took action. I knew at that point we couldn’t win in my lifetime.
I can’t wait for you to take that train!!!
Btw, I post one a day. Just click on the #CountdownToCanada hashtag for the other one.
I love a good countdown.
Really happy for you and your family. 😀
I am starting to plan my escape too. I can't see any palm trees or beautiful blue sea from where my lawn chair is parked now.
Up until the pandemic I was living about 6 months of the year in Vietnam, it was a great way to escape winters here and I love Vietnam. I'm just getting geared up to start again. I for sure want to be there in November.
@homelessjun Thank you muchly. Others who say that are accusing me of “running away” and “not staying to fight.”
I keep asking them, what do they think I’d be doing differently from there? In fact, they have no idea, unless I announce it, where I am typing from, so that proves that I’d be doing nothing different. I can’t fight physically, but I can keep doing what I do.
That’s why I picked up on your wording. Thanks for clarifying.
@GottaLaff@homelessjun Laffy, I’ve been perseverating on whether this move meant we’d lose your voice and I’m taking a sigh of relief that we won’t. Though what matters most is you do what’s right for you. Anyway, thank you. ☺️ 💙
I'm in Ontario and they're pretty much everywhere. For being a chain, their hamburgers are really good. When you've settled down and do some traveling out east, you might bump into one. 🤗
Yes, the Vancouver area has a very good selection of authentic Japanese and Chinese restaurants. In general, you'll find the good restaurants where there's a significant number of immigrants (or descendants) from various countries.
I like Chinese food... and for that, the best restaurants tend to be in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
And if you haven't had real poutine, I recommend a trip to Montreal. La Banquise and Poutineville are two great spots.
You have to like fatty foods to get into poutine. And what @technicolourpenguin said is pretty much true. As a general rule, you don't know what real poutine is until you've tried it in Quebec.
For real Chinese food, head to China Town in Vancouver. Just beware... DTES (Downtown Eastside... Vancouver's answer to Skid Row) is near China Town.
Yeah, I’m familiar with Hastings St. We’re about 40 minutes from Vancouver, so it’s not something we’d likely do casually. We’re looking for local places.
@GottaLaff@VikingChieftain Not sure I’ve had poutine myself: more of a Québec thing. Are there Timmies in Port Moody? If you ever get to Toronto we’re 30 seconds from the lake: actually it is Long Branch, which few have heard of, 15-minute GO train from Union Station. We walk E & W along Lake Ontario 2 or 3 times a day: CN Tower in distance. Good luck on your move to B.C. I’m sure you, Mr. Laffy & Hammy will fit in just fine and enhance whatever local community you end up in.
@JonChevreau Thanks Jon! Yes, there are Timmies, and as I said, I’m not really a fan. We’re about 8 minutes from a beautiful lake, so I can relate. I love walking in the forest green belts every day. That’s my thing, as long as the bears leave us alone. @VikingChieftain
