According to the WaPo: “Donald Trump has privately said he could end Russia’s war in Ukraine by pressuring Ukraine to…cede Crimea and the Donbas border region to Russia.” Did we learn nothing from WWII and the danger of appeasement? Give an inch, he'll take it all.
@rbreich the only problem in that comparison is that Germany wasn’t armed with nuclear weapons pointed directly at us (at other countries). I don’t want Russia to get an inch of Ukraine, but this will eventually have to settle on an agreement. Otherwise, we escalate into a Cuban Missile Crisis scenario that might end very badly for the world.
@rbreich Trump would end all US support for Ukraine, leaving him with no way to coerce Ukraine into dismembering itself and surrendering.
Europe's reaction to Trump allying with Russia against Ukraine and, hence, Europe, would be an accelerated ramp up of support to Ukraine in terms of both numbers and offensive capability.
Demonstrating once again that Trump is an ethically vacant rapist owned by Vladimir Putin.

While Putin is an actual war criminal, he isn't Hitler at all. Heroism-obsessed Zelenskyy have missed the chance for a cease-fire.
While Trump's remarks are somewhat crude, how can American liberals like you dismiss the realistic compromise?

Oh and for the record: appeasement refers to a policy of giving the aggressor what they want WITHOUT waging a war.
So i guess that argument is now 2 years over its best before date:
There has been a war, a bloody one, and it is lost. In no way would a peace with concessions now be appeasement.

I guess after Milosevic, Assad, Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi the new new Hitler is Putin? Because the new Hitler is always who the US wants to wage war against?
Well: We need to stop appeasement, and start with the biggest criminal of them all: The United States. What are the US soldiers doing in Syria right now? (I mean besides stealing oil from a sovereign country?). What did they do in Afghanistan, Sudan, Iraq? Why are we still appeasing them?
I am no fan of Trump but those poor people in the Ukraine are suffering terribly from the war. WW2 was about crushing the USSR. To this end a lot of geopolitical moves were made in Europe to facilitate the invasion of the USSR.

As far as I can tell, Trump has learned nothing since approximately 3rd grade. I’m impressed he knows how to spell Crimea. Although it’s equally likely he thought he was being told about “A Crime”.
