“In an open display of frustration, federal prosecutors on Tuesday night told the judge overseeing #Trump’s classified #documents case that a “fundamentally flawed” order she had issued was causing delays & asked her to quickly resolve a critical dispute about 1 of Trump’s defenses — leaving them time to appeal if needed.
The unusual & risky move by the prosecutors, contained in a 24-pg filing, signaled their mounting impatience w Judge #Cannon” #legal
This is bonkers. Trump's lawyers cite the Presidential Records Act which does not apply to this case, and even if it DID, means 100% the opposite of what they say it means.
BUT ALSO
Application of the PRA must be "inferred" (!!!) by the fact Trump took those documents to Florida instead of returning them to the government.
Fucking looney toons logic.
And Cannon just nods along sagely like this makes perfect sense.
@GottaLaff Jack Smith impresses me as one smart cookie. Certainly far smarter than me, also I believe he is far smarter than Judge Cannon who (whatever else one may say) does not appear to be a genius legal mind. He may be playing his hand at a disadvantage, but I believe he is playing a very sharp game here.
@GottaLaff Cannon can and should be impeached. This isn’t a case of merely disagreeing with the rulings. It is a case of a judge that is corrupt and within everyone’s viewing. This is why impeachment of federal judges exists.
@GottaLaff That 24pp order gets to the meat of the matter right away. Tl;dr, but got all I needed from the first 2 pp. SC Smith isn't fooling around. If the deck is being stacked, he's kicking over the table.
@GottaLaff "Unusual and risky"? perhaps. But maybe far less risky than letting Cannon proceed unchallenged, to perhaps/probably sumarily dismiss all charges as soon as the trial starts.
@GottaLaff
One has to wonder about Cannon's mental competence, not merely her professional competence. Does she really not care that Trump is a proven criminal fraud and rapist? Is she an agent of a foreign power intent on destroying the US gov't? Cannon is starting to look like a malevolent psychopath herself with rulings that prevent a malevolent psychopath from facing a jury of his betters.
@GottaLaff
My definition of "psychopath" is likely more limited than yours, merely meaning that a psychopath feels no guilt or remorse. Psychopathy is more frequent among higher ranking members within a hierarchy, and psychopathy is an advantage in business when one can ruthlessly cheat and lie without moral restraint.
Cannon seems not to care about national security, that she is coddling a proven fraud and rapist who is criminally insane.
What explains it then? Fear? Stupidity? Ignorance?
Perhaps two things do explain it, the first being a lack of a real education, what you call inexperience. (One can become a lawyer without knowing anything about science, world history, or the intelligence community. Ignoramuses like Louis Gohmert, Gym Jordan, and Clarence Thomas are representative of the how shallow a legal education can be.) The second thing could be cult worship of her spiritual leader, Citizen Trump, sent directly from the god she worships.
