Via journalist Ahmed Baba:

#Trump’s authoritarian dehumanization of migrants isn’t just being used as a campaign tactic. Trump is trying to lay the groundwork for the absolute depravity he plans to unleash on migrants if he wins re-election.

Dehumanizing rhetoric always preludes dehumanizing policy:

"They're not humans. They're animals ... I'll use the word 'animal,' because that's what they are" -- Trump

2/ Via Emptywheel:

It's not just Trump dehumanizing migrants. It is the entire GOP, led by Discount Goebbels [pink text is mine].

Remember, TRUMP is the one who demanded that Republicans kill a border deal. He did so, apparently, to set up this dehumanization.

@GottaLaff

...it is not only about migrants either.
Wait until African Americans, Indigenous and People of Color are finally realizing, that after 248 years we are STILL not really meant by the US constitution's first three words: "We the people"!

@DaWoDerPfeffer

I remember seeing a woman (a proud Trump voter) interviewed on the news after her husband was detained and deported to Mexico by Trump after decades in the US. She suddenly found herself with 3 kids and a business to run in her own. She said, “I didn’t expect him (Trump) to deport good people like my husband. I thought he was just going to deport the bad people!” It never occurred to her that Trump’s snarling hatred and racism would apply to someone she loved.

@KimberlyN Not enough people are aware. Sigh. @DaWoDerPfeffer

@GottaLaff All this is why trump isn't really the problem. A sizeable chunk of the people cheer him on. When he dies or becomes incapacitated, after a likely power struggle, somebody else will take over, and they may well be more able than he is. A change of heart is what is needed and hard to come by.

@DeanEquity I keep sounding alarms too

@GottaLaff
He's going to wind up inspiring a lot of stupid racist white people to get themselves thrown in prison for doing his dirty work for him.

@GottaLaff

The members of the Judenräte councils and Trzynastka (Group 13) thought they were inoculating themselves from being sent to the camps by being the "good Jews".

Once they were no longer needed, they ended up on the trains as well.

This is the briefest of histories. The situation was a lot more complicated. The decision to join was not voluntary in all cases.

@GottaLaff I fear for brown & black people, immigrant, native, visiting, or otherwise. The current climate is poor to begin with but if that man & his team regain the levers of power, it will be the promised bloodbath. White voters have to get our shit together & get busy tearing this supremacy shit down.

GottaLaff OP ,

@3dogcouch We better vote in droves.

@GottaLaff Hehe, Discount Goebbels. Or Shitler, for brevity's sake... I've been wondering: If elected and other officials have to swear an oath when they get...sworn in.... at which point does support of the Orange Parasite constitute a breach of that oath and are there any legal consequences for that in the US?

GottaLaff OP ,
@GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

@1nd33d If there were consequences for that, he'd be in prison already

@GottaLaff And we thought putting children in cages and separating families was the bottom. Smh.

@kaydenpat No we didn't. We knew better.
