I certainly won't mourn a minion of the dictatorial Iranian mollahs, but a state bombing an embassy certainly doesn't abide by international laws, as far as I think.
Not that Israel has had a habit of respecting these over the past 10 years.
If I understood well, the building wasn't exactly the embassy per se, but "an annex of the embassy", whatever it means. The question regarding the level of escalation is therefore: does such an annex have the same legal status as an embassy itself?

@hannahshouse2 I agree, this could be Netanyahu wagging the dog. But I am waiting for the US response, before I rule out that this attack happened in coordination with the US.
