this morning, a friend of mine posted that he liked having a console because his games just worked (context: low-effort fun while he's recovering from cancer), and someone angrily quote-skeeted him to say that consoles were for losers who are afraid of options
but they lost the thread about what those "options" were supposed to be (mods, peripherals, &c.) so they just started saying how great it was to fuck around with your graphics setting in the menu
@Leonor
[changing the blending mode to trilinear] i bet you can't do this on the playstation 5, console peasant
[my character's face starts flickering in and out of existence] once i'm done messing around with the nvidia control panel i will explain why this is better
@saddestrobots i “upgraded” my sister-in-law’s computer from a first generation Core i5 to a third generation Core i7 equivalent so she could get access to software that requires AVX1. this means Starfield runs. i peeked at her graphics settings and cringed. but it doesn’t matter, she’s happy and content because she can play it. she’s right.
