@pteryx@LeviKornelsen@Silverlion Gumshoe was the one real attempt and it's smugly presented as the end-all solution. Beyond the issue of handing out clues not being a panacea, it's one of those games designed in response to a trad problem with the "solution" presented much broader than it is. Gumshoe was a response to "I failed my Investigation roll and now the plot is dead in the water".
A solution which makes it TERRIBLE for mysteries. It's a fine procedural drama engine though.
