I know it's a bit gauche to talk of money, but our council tax bill has just come in and it's a little shy of three grand. The roads around here are riddled with potholes, the rubbish collection guys are more like 'throw rubbish all over the place' guys, the local libraries no longer exist (both ones near me have been closed) and services (police etc) have all publicly had their funding slashed. So what are we paying such a high premium for?
