1/... #StormyDaniels alleges she was "...cornered by him."
“I don’t remember how I got on the bed, & then the next thing I know, he was humping away and telling me how great I was,” she says. “It was awful. But I didn’t say no.”
“I’ve maintained that it wasn’t rape in any fashion. But I didn’t say no because I was 9 yrs old again.”..she was sexually abused by a neighbor as a child...
She also expresses remorse for not trying to stop him." #Trump
@GottaLaff I am now thankfully past that point but I've been there and I know exactly how Stormy feels. And I know I'm not alone. It's a horrible feeling.
The sexual violence of the right, of men like Trump and those like him across time and the globe, is foundational to their power. You cannot separate them from it. It’s part of their faith and as much a tool in they’re dubious successes as anything else.
They are rape, in every thought, word, and deed. They are the violence they bring out of others.
I clearly don’t have the experience or understanding to properly articulate it, and it’s hard to try to navigate, in danger of bad assumptions.
But women on the right, those who defend such actions or ignore them, and even who support such violence. I imagine the victimization of many began so early they may never see it.
But that also makes me a presumptuous mansplainer. And I don’t know how to get a wedge in there.
Maybe it’s not really for me to say at all.
@GottaLaff this sounds an awful lot like she shutdown due to her past trauma, which means she didn’t clearly say yes either, making this problematic from a consent perspective.
@GottaLaff I hesitate to actively call it rape, since she, herself, denies this being the case and I believe she is the best judge of the situation, as well as her own limits, but if she had not explicitly made that statement, then I would have considered it as such by default.
It pains me not to do so though, since Trump has been convicted of rape. It is in his nature and he is an imposing man, who can, and has in the past, easily exploited his position to satisfy his sexual urges.
@GottaLaff you can’t just drop that in place and have the sentence make sense, it would require rephrasing, which exceeded the character limit when I tried, hence I made a choice.
I could do a thread, but that seems a bit much for a reply, also it isn’t natively supported in my client, so I’d have to do it manually.
@GottaLaff@DavidNielsen My understanding is that trump has never been convicted of rape. He was found liable in a civil law suit, but that differs from a criminal conviction. Or did I miss something?
@GottaLaff@DavidNielsen thanks. This article seems to support my statement. A jury found that he did rape her, but it was a civil suit not a felony criminal trial. So he’s not yet a convicted felon, right?
@GottaLaff@MarkBrigham indeed, however importantly for libel purposes, he can be referred to as a rapist without being successful sued. He is unlikely to face a criminal trial, due to the statute of limitation.
However Biden could call him that in ads, social media posts, town halls and debates. As could anyone running against candidates endorsed by him… and they should, often.
Donald John Trump, massive fraudster, rapist and terrible businessperson (he filed for bankruptcy 6 times I believe)
@GottaLaff Once a rapist always a rapist. It is telling that there is no English word for one who enables a rapist. Yet, many do.
By voting GOP as long as Trump is their flag bearer, you are enabling a rapist.
From Trump's own rhetoric, you are pro-death.
2/ "To this day, I blame myself and I have not forgiven myself because I didn’t shut his a— down in that moment, so maybe make him pause before he tried it with someone else,” she says. “The hardest part about all of this is that I feel that I am partially responsible for every woman that could have come after me.”
They say her story differs now, that before she said it was a consensual sex act. I don't remember that narrative; she's always been consistent that he invited her up to his hotel room on false pretenses then jumped her.
Lots of "prosecutors say" verbiage when the FACT is that he bribed her, as ascertained in a court of law. The CURRENT criminal case is about the fraudulent accounting used to document that bribe.
