NEW: #Maine House passes a bill to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a workaround to the Electoral College where participating states pledge to award all of their electoral votes to the candidate who wins the popular vote.
Currently, 16 states & D.C. — totaling 205 Electoral College votes — are members of the compact. If the legislation advanced out of the Maine House today becomes law, that number would rise to 209. (1/2)
