The more I read about Nex Benedict the more it seems a direct consequence of the transphobic bathroom law & Libs of tiktok getting her teacher to resign.
They was attacked by 3 older students in a girl's bathroom.
They want to make trans people ... disappear. One way or the other.

@futurebird the details of the medical follow-up (no ambulance called, discharged before dying at home) are suspicious for medical discrimination as well. i don't know enough about head trauma to know if whatever complication caused Nex's delayed death could have been foreseen by the medical staff. but it sure is fishy as hell.

And yeah, so far there isn't direct evidence that it was hate-motivated, e.g. any slurs or history of transphobic bullying by the assailants, but there also clearly was not much of an investigation so far and the school's response is extremely whitewashy ("we broke the fight after two minutes" - okay, how the fuck do schoolgirls beat someone to the point of death in two minutes?).
I'm so disgusted and angry. It's all predictable. Everyone has been saying so. And I can only assume this is what they want and it's incomprehensible.
I think "You don't get someone so you want them hidden or dead? You're so screwed up and freaked out about gender that just knowing something you don't get exists is this huge threat? You're trying to save the kids from 'wokeness' ? "
@futurebird I think one underreported thing is that I've seen some articles mention that in the fight in which they were killed, there was another trans person involved, so it seems that they may have died defending another trans person
