I'm in the process of buying a new used car, anyone have an advice on negotiating the best deal?

@RickiTarr

Look on the internet for the best price in your area. Don't go to the dealership. Call them and tell them what you will pay. Maybe 5 to 10% less than the internet price. Only after you have a verbal deal and they agree to hold the car, go there, test drive it, and get it. If they try to change anything about the deal walk away.

@RickiTarr

Start here: https://www.carfax.com/cars-for-sale

But don't buy it through Carfax. Use it to find the car/dealership in your area.

@mastodonmigration @RickiTarr exactly, pick what you want and pay what you want and walk if they don't give it to you. Don't bother negotiating, they're better at it than you, it's their job. I walked out on a new car because they had a bunch of non optional extra charges (pinstripe, nitrogen in the tires, vehicle tracking service, etc.). It turns out all those rings actually were optional when I walked.
