is there any hope for two way communication? I lost all interest in this when I found out it was just another way to follow accounts from outside a walled garden but no one in there could follow us. What is the point? Why would I do that?
There's opt-in two-way communication with Bluesky via Bridgy Fed -- https://fed.brid.gy/ So, unless your instance has blocked Bridgy Fed, you can probably see my Bluesky account at @jdp23.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy. If you've opted in by following @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy , then replies/likes/notifications will be bridged back there and a two-way conversation works well.
With Threads, it's currently a different story. They've said they'll enable full two-way communications later this year, but for now it's still mostly one-way.
