@jeridansky this is very much an American phenomenon. In Denmark, where I live, car taxes are steep, so people automatically prefer smaller cars, because they are cheaper. For many years, one of the most sold cars was the small city car Volkswagen Up, and the Peugeot 208 is also popular.

@randahl @BrentToderian Yes — as the headline says, it's America's love of monster vehicles.

Applying financial penalties for large vehicles sounds smart to me, but I'm not holding my breath for the US to do that.
