Aww! There's a young blackbird in my garden. I think I may have seen him around before, but I'm not sure - the juvenile feathers are plain brown just like the adult female, but today, up close, his brightly coloured beak was unmistakable.
When I moved here, there were two blackbirds always hanging around, a male and a female. But somewhere along the line, they disappeared and I didn't see any blackbirds in my garden for a year or so, up until the beginning of last winter.
Then suddenly, I was seeing one female and two males regularly, probably drawn by the food I kept putting out. And now, it seems the female is a mother and one of the males a father. I'm very proud of them.
