Judge Merchan moving the sentencing to mid September is smart. It gives and DA and the court time to brief the issues, but Merchan will ultimately reject the weak Trump claims, and importantly the new mid-September sentencing date will make it VERY hard for Trump to then be able to appeal to before the election as he will have to appeal within NY state courts first.

I dunno about that. We saw SCOTUS move quite quickly when Al Gore was about to win the presidency.

@GottaLaff The other thing is that Americans always have a short memory. So 48 days (9/18 to 11/5) versus 115 days (7/11 to 11/5) are better because Americans will remember it better when they go vote on 11/5.

I'm pretty sure SCOTUS can choose to take up his case any time they like. They don't have to wait for anything. (Like Bush v. Gore).
